Post a picture of your dream car!
If money was no object and the car would be in perfect working condition - what would be your dream car? Me - I've always loved the VW Karmann Ghia and would love one of the convertibles from circa mid-1970s (preferably in a dark shade of green).

that my Memere gave me when she bought her first "automatic". It had 300,000 miles on it when she gave me the keys and I put another 50k on it before the frame rotted out.

The Bugatti Veyron. The largest engine ever in a street-legal car. Nothing that is legal to buy on the street beats this car. Nothing.

Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 03:40 PM by LynneSin
I mean, not like I can go any faster on I95 in Delaware than about 40MPH even on the best of days. It's like being married to the most amazing woman in the world and not being able to get it up for her (ok, I couldn't think of a better comparison but this works)

21. Eh, If I owned a Veyron, I'd do 200 mph...
if the cops pulled me over -- and didn't just compliment my car and tell me to slow down, the way cops usually do when they pull over a super high-end car -- I'd just tell'em to fuck off, hire a lawyer to get me out of the points, pay the cost of the ticket, and then continue to do 200 mph.

When you have enough money for a Veyron, you have enough money to pay a few thousand speeding tickets without batting an eyelash

Probably the greatest sports car of its era (the 1960s), outperforming even the Porsche 911 in mountain races on hairpin turns because of its exceptional handling and horsepower-to-weight ratio. I wish I could afford one but a decent one nowadays runs about $40K.

54. I used to have a '72 Karmann Ghia...hard top though.
It was the first car I ever bought. I was barely 17. I worked all summer to buy it...for 500 clams. It was a rust bucket...but for my Senior year, the ladies loved it. Fun car.

This has been my dream car since that one got hauled away to the junkyard. Except I want one in black.

Ladies and Genitals...I give you the 1965 Lincoln Continental Convertable. The coupes aren't that expensive. But if you want a convertable...add about 10 grand.

Suicide doors (the back ones open the "wrong" way...open them into traffic and you'll discover why the nickname). A front end with a horizon. Rides like a great big comfy couch.

It's known as "Kennedy's Last Ride" by enthusiasts. Kind of morbid and in bad taste...but I didn't come up with that nickname.

There is one in the corridor of the storage facility where we store all the product for my other seasonal job. I have to look at it 3-4 times a week. It's undercover...but I'm so tempted to hotwire the sombitch...and elope with my lady to the Baja Pennisula.

Looking at it there...not moving...for several years now...when you'd need firearms to get me away from it...makes me wanna cry.

And I would NEVER customize it. Only restoration for that baby. Great big white walls. I used to do high end stereo systems...and I'd put one in...but I know how to make it look like it's all original. I'd never ruin her with silly mods.

Yes, it's a production car. 0-60 mph in about four seconds - with an automatic transmission.

Of course, gas prices being what they are, I'd want my Vector with either a kickass hybrid engine or a hydrogen cell. I can be progressive and still have pipe dreams...

81. Oh, yeah, the W2
Powered by a GM engine, too, as I recall. Sort of like the Pantera, powered by Ford.

All the exotica, but the local garage could swap the alternator and the Jiffy Lube has your oil filter in stock. Try that with a Ferrari.

76. I have a 1969 DS 21
Along with my 1973 Saab Model 96 v4, it's my daily transportation. The Citroen DS was one of the most advanced mass production cars of its era, an engineering masterpiece. You don't even need a jack to change a tire, the car will run on three wheels, it features the smoothest ride of any car ever built (on a hydraulic, not spring suspension), the headlights move in the direction the car turns, you can change gears without a clutch and with just your pinkie finger touching the gear shifter up on the steering wheel, it's very spacious, reliable, fast, and fuel efficient and it looks like a floating spaceship.

80. Lucky you!
I think they're the most beautiful beautiful looking cars, like none other. I didn't know they were so technically sophisticated. Do you maintain it yourself? I've heard they're a bitch to fix, and parts are really hard to come by. (I can't even change the oil in my car and don't like standard transmissions, so I doubt if I'll ever own one.)

75. Morgan Plus 4
Couldn't find a good picture of the old ones, and it should be green. I miss the belt.

Or maybe an Austin-Healy 3000. Also should be green.

77. Not sure I'd consider it my dream car, but it's what I'm thinking
about for my next one in two years. I've got a Lexus ES330 now, but want something more economical and efficient next time. Unfortunately, it looks like the Mini requires premium gas.

83. Pagani Zonda roadster or the Ferrari 360 Spider...or, The Beast
I figure, it's gotta be exotic, fast and a 'vert.

The Pagani (AMG V12, 0-60 in around 3 seconds, pushes 1.4-ish g's):

Or maybe the Ferrari 360 Spider (who cares, it's a Ferrari):

Though, for half the money, and half the headaches, I could slice and dice them both with this beast, a brand new 2006 Corvette, brutally upgraded over at Lingenfelter Performance (twin turbo 427...800 horsepower, and all under warranty)
