23. We have hundreds of huge dragonflies in our yard.
I don't know why. Aside from the pool, we don't have water around. Why can't they go to the pond about two miles down the road? Or perhaps, the big swamp that's a few miles back into the woods?

20. Yes, that is a mirror cell I fabricated.
P. S. That horizontal mill is a

Lucas Horizontal Mill circa 1960, totally manual.

No CNC.

24. well, manual is the right way to do it.
today I built two prototype coulometric electrodes on a manual microlathe. No better control than to do it by experienced 'feel'.

Are you the guy in engineering that has a job like me? I remember a while back there was someone who posted a bunch a photos of work that reminded me of the labs I work in. I'm in biomedical engineering.

29. well, congrats then, ya rat.
Our rats are significantly less than lucky, but we get to build similarly interesting stuff like interferometers, microtomes, spectrophotometers, etc.

we build most of our stuff in-house, but I need to buy some high precision ways and linear actuators, thats why I asked.

Love the pictures, a little envious as Ive got a 10-inch SC and would love to work on the multi-meter newtonians.

you must be very skilled.
