Do we even have a Democratic Underground kook?
Kook, as in http://www.answers.com/topic/kook? Famous kooks like Ed Wollmann, Richard "The Stupid" Bullis, Stephen Boursey (Speedbum), Brad Jesness, Dr. Andrew B. Chung MD/PHD..

4. Well,
I'll be starting an M.D./Ph.D. program next year, so perhaps I can be the token adjunct kook for now and then be sworn in about seven years from now. hows that?

7. wouldn't the 'as to whether' be predicated upon your field of study...

8. Not really.

Within the M.D./Ph.D. marriage, the "field" of study becomes a little narrow.

Typically, they're kooks by default.

9. Good luck to you!
I got my Ph.D in a clinical lab, and my PI was an MD. I have a lot of respect for M.D./Ph.Ds. I could take the Ph.D bullshit, but I probably couldn't take the med school bullshit (and definately not both at the same time!)

11. Thank you
Ive been doing research for two years now (biomedical) and working with several investigators from the school I'll be attending (snd some from other schools), so I'm very excited.

Were you in a relationship/married while you earned your doctorate and if so, how was the maintenance?

12. I was single during grad school.
It worked out well for me, but I had colleagues who were married, and having a spouse with a steady income helped out a lot for them.

I'm also in the biomedical field. I did my research in an infectious diseases lab. I only got two published manuscripts as primary author during my doctoral research. I wanted more, but I guess I can't complain.

10. Hey, You Know the Chungster?
I see him regularly, and have a little 'friend' who cites him as a reference when dispensing advice such as edema being the same thing as orthostatic hypotension. Soon, "Jason Johnson" will be added to that list...

13. Not the Pharoah, Greg, optimo! I just convinced the reptiloids (known
as SIB-GODS to the rest of the population) to use tomato sauce to add flavour to other adjectives, like shinyflavour.
