I love my job but I have a slight problem
I have trouble focusing on writing the reports. They're a bit dry, but not too bad in the grand scheme of things, but I just have a problem staying "task-oriented." I'll work on a report for a half an hour, then I'll find myself just wandering... unable to stay focused. And it's almost like I don't realized I've wandered off-task for a while before I refocus, so I wind up losing a lot of time that I should be working.

I feel bad about it, but I don't know how to work towards fixing the problem.

Any suggestions?

3. Can you listen to music w/ headphones?
When I need to focus, I'll put on a CD, find a song I really like and put it on repeat. It's kind of like white noise I think. Anyway, sometimes that works for me...

4. Attention span is directly proportional with interest.
Looks as if you ain't interested in these reports. Have you tried having a conversation with yourself about your resistance. Or, have a conversation with your resistance and find out why it wants to serve you or how it sees itself as valuable.

9. break the report down
into segments. Do a segment - reward yourself with a break. Do another segment, etc.......

Penultimate step: weave segments together into coherent whole.

Final step: proof/edit carefully.

Et voila!

10. It's a little more complicated than that
Usually you don't really have all the info to write a section when you start out. For example, the other day I was working on the executive summary and I could only write a few paragraphs because there was a lot I really didn't feel qualified to comment on.
