Why would a woman w/her boyfriend turn to smile at me?
I was at Loring Park. Just out for a stroll.

I didn't quite know what to think.

I was on the cell phone at the time, talking to relatives.

But it felt nice all the same.

1. Probably because you were still on a high

...and giving off a good, positive vibe from the guy who took an interest in you in the bar. Giving off happy, confident, good vibes attracts like energy. Isn't it great?

6. You didn't hear what I screamed in the car on the way home.
And the guy at the bar said I looked bored.

One of his buddies kept giving me weird looks later on. Not that type either, but I didn't care.

2. Well, my dear Hypno.....
I'd say it was because she found you to be attractive!

And you are, you know!

11. Primate reflex
Women smile to appease single men who might be a threat. It has nothing to do with your behavior; just the fact that you were a large (enough) male looking at her. Women smile at me all the time and I'm ugly as sin.

Of course you seem to be attractive enough in a Clark Kent kinda way so maybe it was that. But don't get your hopes up; I'm a notoriously bad judge.

12. There is always a logical explanation.

People are always encumbered with ulterior motives.

And given the chicanery I received in the past, I should not have been surprised.

Don't worry, my hopes didn't go up. Things are as they always have been.

And there have often been days when I wish I was Superman. :(

14. "People are always encumbered with ulterior motives."
Not always you silly cynic.

There are those even sillier than you such as myself, who's real job "from the front office" is to inspire as many smiles as possible on the faces of strangers each day regardless of whether I'm flying solo or with someone.

I'm not kidding. It's a really fun and fulfilling exercise though admittedly, it's gotten much more difficult to do so of late. It's just harder to make eye contact with so much collective fear.

Just take it as a pleasant unconditional stroke from the environment.

She probably just thought you were cute and were most likely emitting positive vibes to your relatives and she might of picked up on it.

17. She obviously wants you.
</sarcasm>

Maybe she heard you say something that made her think of something in her past. Or maybe she liked what you were wearing.

Or maybe it was a gorgeous day and she was in a good mood and she wanted everyone to know it and she smiled at everyone.

Or maybe she's retarded (I guess mentally challenged is the proper term now).

Why ask why?

If it felt good, enjoy it!

It happens all the time in civilized societies, unlike our own.
