made me think I had missed fathers day! (Which here, I had quite forgotten, is on the 3rd of September)

Oh well & well forgiven, it was for worthy cause. :patriot: Happy Fathers Day, Americans!

I'm surprised Dad didn't correct me. Oh well, an early present never hurts.

When I was a kid, he used to sit on the back patio at night and explain to me which stars made up which constellations.

He taught me how to bait a hook and all the rules about boating safely.

He bought me a puppy when I was 8 who turned out to be the best dog ever, a black labrador named "Pepper." He sat me down in the middle of bunch of puppies for sale and told me to "pick the one I wanted."

He made sure I had a car at 16 (a safe used car), and that I went off to college at 18 without me worrying about how to foot the bill.

He taught me about telling the truth, and being responsible and fair.

Even though his own dad was very hard on him, he made sure that he never really lost his temper with me and my brother, even though we certainly did get punished when we didn't behave.

And now my Dad is one of my best friends and he posts here at DU!
