Flu in the summer?
I'm not quite sure what I have but it sure is miserable. Constant mild headache, stiff neck, aching all over, and a fever. I've already had Lymes disease a long time ago, and I checked for the red bullseye rash and found nothing. This is miserable, I had to miss work, going to miss a party, maybe even 2 if this keeps up into tommorow. Argh! being sick during the summer... that shouldn't happen!

1. thought I had the flu two weeks ago ended up being bilateral pneumonia. I
spent four days in the hospital with one foot in the ground. It came out of no where. Healthy Saturday, a little "buggish" Sunday, high temp, hard to breath, Monday and Tuesday so I went to the university health center. Dr. said bronchitis and gave me some antibiotics. By Wednesday, I could barely breath, couldn't get my temp below 103. My ex and my sister had to lug me out of the apartment where I had been talking over the "my" funeral arrangements to what ever random person called me. I thought it was a weird dream. So to the hospital I went and now home I am on super antibiotics and at 37 suddenly have asthma. I have never had it before and never even had bronchitis so to say the least I am very surprised. I do hope you feel better. Being sick in the summer does suck.

2. I was sick with similar symptoms just a couple of weeks ago...
Sore throat, fever, chills, aches, stuffed up, headache...it sucked. But, the worst of it only lasted a day and a half so I guess it could have been worse, but man alive was it a terrible day and a half.

I hope you're feeling better soon. Summer is no time to be sick.

3. Depending on Where You Live
get checked for hay fever, valley fever, and over all allergies. A simple summer allergy can lead to a fever and often times a very miserable time in nice weather. A simple sinus infection can lead to crappy results. The flu however can happen at anytime. The reason that it is more prevalent in winter is due to the fact that people tend to spend more time together indoors because of the weather. Not because the flu itself is only a winter occurring illness. Drink lots of water, rest, and most of all get some healthy food and vitamins. There isn't much doctors can do for the flu. But following those steps can help you heal faster. good luck! My thoughts are with you.

5. I had a summer flu
that lasted 10 days. It was awful
I had done alot of traveling
all along the east coast, so I could have caught it anywhere.

Cause I never had heard of anyone getting the flu in the summer in NYC.

6. you can have lyme's twice and not always a bullseye
if you are in a lyme disease area i think you should get tested again

also mycoplasma pneumonia can occur in the summer as well, and i know a few people who had it years ago and died -- in july, one man was in his 30s and he did not think he was seriously ill so didn't go the ER until it was too late to save him

so again if you are really seriously ill instead of just sniffles i think maybe see a doctor

7. I had something similiar about a month ago.
It turned into the worst sinus infection I've ever had. You should see your doctor. Take care!

8. Yea I think a trip to the doc is warranted
I'm not quite sure what to make of it. Flu like symptoms can mean a lot more things than just the flu, Lymes disease is a possibility so I think I'll be heading to the doc for that.
