Well, that certainly was a good Father's Day.

After the Pre-Father's day present from Mrs R last night (don't ask), woke up to a breakfast of four-fruit crepes with whipped cream, watched the finish of Le Mans, then accepted the wonderful present of a Sirius satellite-radio kit for the car and also a house adapter from the boys. (Finally, radio I'll want to listen to while I'm working.)

Then off in Missy with the little guy, trying to decide between Open Cockpit Day at the air museum, or the Ferrari concourse in Hartford. So what the hell, we did both.

On the way home, he asked me "Dad, do you think life is short?"

What a great half-hour conversation starter...what a great invitiation to philosophize with the kid.

Arrived home to Mango Margaritas and Mrs R's fall-off-the-bone ribs for dinner.

Oh, yes. I do hope all you other DU dads had a great day as well. Y'all deserve it.

7. I can't think of any way it could have been better. Unless it could have
been less than the 98 degrees it was.

But that's a REAL minor quibble. Thanks for the good words.

6. So how was yours? How's the wife and the little cutie? And by the way,
mark July 15th on your calendar. I'll send you an e-mail with details.

Still negotiating the business thing. Have alternatives in place if the original plan doesn't work out. Is New Haven too far of a commute for you? That's where it looks like the incentives at the city and state level make the best location.

15. Will do!
New Haven is a bit of a haul from here, wish it were New London but we'll have to see.

16. Yes, we'll see. We'll need creative engineering.
And Chief Engineer is one of the few slots I don't have a promise to have filled (I've been actively recruiting / poaching from the company in the same business where I used to work).

Volvo's Dirty Little Secret. They sell safety, and make a rocket car they don't tell anyone about.

But I have one.

Her name is Missy in honor of all those young women who are such hot stuff that you can't help but fall in love with them even though they know damn well what hot stuff they are so they're not shy about letting you know that they know...and a tribute to black-haired waitresses everywhere.

I bet you'll actually understand the above sentence.

11. Sounds like a wonderful day!
I'm really glad to hear about your day.

My husband went sailing with his dad and brother; they had a great time. I did call my dad. He lives in NH and I live in WA, and I wish there was a way to tell him how much I miss him.

Thanks for making me smile!

13. Well, just tell him how much you miss him. But I do understand, if
he's a real New Hampshire Yankee, that may not be an easy subject to discuss (I grew up a Vermont Yankee). It's that whole Puritan / Congregational / Flinty Old Bastard tradition.

But it's good to hear about your husband going sailing, and what better place to sail than off the Washington coast?

And if I've made you smile, then I've done well this day.

17. He's a Boston yankee, son of a VT yankee.
I did tell him, but he doesn't seem to really hear it. If you grew up with yankees, you probably know what I mean. Flinty old bastard--you nailed it!

Today was a nice day for sailing--the menfolks had a good time.

Happy Dads' Day, Redstone.

And thanks.
