What's best airline to fly NY to LA?
Anyone out there taken the red-eye? What would you recommend? My mom asked me, and I don't have a clue. Thanks!

3. Second!
I took Jetblue on a short flight from LGB to Vegas and it was the best. Plus on Jetblue you get to go to Long Beach airport, which has the shortest lines out of any LA area airport.

5. I second Jet Blue.
I've never had the opportunity to fly with them, but many friends have and they LOVE it.

There's also the HUGE bonus of flying into Burbank, Long Beach or Ontario rather than LAX. I can personally attest to the relative happiness that is the Burbank airport, particularly if you're headed to the Valley/WeHo/Beverly Hills. I'll take Burbank over LAX if *at all* possible. Even if it means paying more.

6. If you ask my houseguests, it's Jet Blue. Long Beach to Dulles non-stop
They loved it. I am going to try it the next time I go home to CA.

:hi:

7. please check what planes will be used...
if it's nonstop, you're pretty much guaranteed to be on a bigger, 'heavy' jet. When I flew from Atlanta to Denver recently, I was on a horrible Canadair small plane (probably seats 75 or so) and it did NOT fare well in turbulence at all. Too small for 3+ hour flights... make sure it's a 737 or larger. Many airlines are using smaller jets, it seems, to save fuel. Smaller planes are fine for shorter hops, but this was just an uncomfortable experience all around. United was the airline.

I used to fly Continental out of Newark to LA frequently. It was a nice, comfortable flight... and my then-boyfriend would fly the redeye and never had any problems.

8. Whoa. Candair?
Edited on Mon Jun-19-06 09:00 PM by HawkeyeX
What the hell airline used it? Not good for long distance.. I flew Candair once from Tucson to SLC.. That's more appropriate.

Concur on Jetblue. Wife insists on flying Jetblue when we go to New York.
