Illegal Dentist Busted Operating Out Of Fake Jewelry Store

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A mouthful of trouble. That's what the operators of an illegal dentist office face after sheriffs shut down their dirty and unlicensed shop, which was advertised as a jewelry store.

Customers came to the Palm Springs store for discount gold teeth and caps called "grills." Some, however, ended up with painful and infected mouths. Authorities say the amateur dentists were using filthy dental tools that detectives found among buckets of dirty fluid and trash.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office detectives shut down the business in an undercover sting Wednesday after a month of surveillance. They arrested 39-year-old Sarah Encarnacion, who was about to place caps in the mouth of an undercover agent. She faces charges of unlawful practice of dentistry, proprietorship of non-dentist, and working in an unlawful dental laboratory.

Detectives said they suspect others were also involved.

The gold grills being sold were being crafted and fitted in the store. Detectives say they are also still unsure if the metal being used was real gold.

that aren't essential for tooth health, but just for "cosmetic" reasons, maybe they should be required to do it in filthy, unregistered places with dentists who aren't really dentists.

Look, I think people with a mouthful of gold look moronic, but if that's what they want to do, why shouldn't they?

I mean, should people who get tattoos have to do it with dirty needles? What about plastic surgery? Should that be done with filthy scalpels?

Of course people should be able to do it in healthy, sterile environments with trained people. BUt if they're only option was squalor and unprofessional people, perhaps we'd have fewer gold-mouths walking around because fewer would choose it.

But of course, we all have the right to engolden our teeth, tattoo our spleens, pierce our spines, tuck our chins and stretch our facial skin until it can't move, or wear socks with sandals, at will.

people who wear socks with sandals should be dragged from their homes and shot like rabid dogs.
