Traveling with a business suit
So I have a big interview tomorrow in Seattle. They are flying me up from AZ for an interview and then I turn around and fly home, so I'll have to wear a suit on the plane. Any tips on how to keep wrinkle free? Or am I doomed? :(

1. Are they meeting you at the airport gate?
AFAIK people can't meet you at the gate anymore, so can't you wear something more comfortable, put the suit in a suit bag and carry it on (so you have it with you when you leave) and do a quick change in the lavatory?

Also depends on the suit. Some suits do better than others.

Mark.

2. Well the interview is actually in
the airport. We're meeting at a board room in the airport somwhere. I was thinking of that but then I'd have to carry a bunch of stuff. And I still might get it all wrinkled in the overhead bin.

3. If you're really charming
carry the suit bag and ask the flight staff to hang it up when you board the plane. I've seen this happen lots of times. good luck

4. Don't wear your coat on the plane
Ask the flight attendant to hang your coat with their stuff. I've had them do that for me before.
Don't cross your legs during the flight. Try to sit with your legs stretched out in front of you so your pants don't wrinkle at the knees.

Carry a small bottle of Wrinkle Release with you. You can spray out most wrinkles with that. I've never used it on a suit though, you might need to check the instructions to see if it will work with your fabric.

5. if they're putting you in first class your jacket will be hung up
i have no idea if you're in coach but assume if you're in coach good chance you're not getting hired anyway so no use sweating it!

it doesn't quite matter if shirt and pants are wrinkled, a crisp jacket covers a multitude of sins

good luck and go get them!

7. Explain to the flight attendant that with all that TNT wrapped around you
it's impossible to sit down, so you have to stand for the whole flight.

That'll keep the clothes from wrinkling.

On a serious note, others have explained well - don't wear the coat, try to hang it up on the flight. Your pants should be okay.

If you are worried about the shirt, have your laundry clean one for you and fold it into a box. Carry that shirt, as well as your tie, in your briefcase, and wear another shirt on the plane. After you get off the plane, hit the first bathroom, take off the shirt, wash your face and brush your teeth, rinse with listerine, check your hair, change shirts, put on the pair of decent non-flashy cufflinks you also stored in the briefcase, remember to put the collar stays in, put on the tie, put on the coat, check your hair again, check your teeth to make sure nothing is showing, make sure your fly is up, belt is on, and shoes are tied and shiny, don't forget to put your old shirt in your briefcase and don't forget to carry it with you, and then go meet your new boss.
