I love all the Bond movies. Even the bad ones.

What am I saying? There are no bad ones!!

'm so pissed that I didn't see Dr. No from the start.

Hmmmm... Ursula Andress.

2. Me, too!
And I also appreciate that for the most part, the Bond films are still using as much as real action stunt work as possible,a nd not ciopping out with digital effects.

There's something real "Bondish" about having even the actors and prodcution team doing the real stunts.

5. Next week is Goldfinger
That movie has some of the best one liners of the entire series.

"Do you want me to talk?"

"Why no, Mr Bond. I want you to DIE!!"

6. Memory Lane: I remember going to the drive-in (remember those?)
and seeing "From Russia with Love" and just totally being blown away. Course, I was only 16 at the time, but what the hell....warm, great memories.

10. I'm just a girl but...
the only ones I find even remotely watchable are "Casino Royale" (Peter Sellers, enough said!), and "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" (or whatever it's called). George Lazenby rocked, and Diana Rigg... well... EVERYBODY knows Emma Peel kicks ass!

12. Lazenby got a raw deal
He was a most excellent Bond. But he got buried when Connery came back for Diamonds are Forever.

We have all the time in the world, Baby!!

14. Mixed bag, but you can't go wrong with Sean Connery
The Man With the Golden Gun and Moonraker were pretty bad, and Casino Royale (which wasn't an official part of the Bond series) isn't worth mentioning.

But all of the Sean Connery-era movies are great, that one-shot with Lazenby is one of the best of the series, and even Roger Moore redeemed himself with some good ones like The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only.

16. What do you think of Pierce B.
I call him the Pissed off Bond. Especially when he's slangin' a machine gun. But I think he's one of the best. Right after Connery and Lazenby

17. Brosnan
Definitely an improvement over Timothy Dalton, and all of his Bond movies are pretty good. But I do think a lot of the magic of the 1960s era Bond movies has been lost in the more recent ones. The Connery movies and the one with Lazenby had the kitschy 1960s feel down perfectly, which is part of the appeal of them for me.

26. Made it
A little cut and paste work. I copied buttons from the various campaigns, resized them, pasted them together in a single .gif

Created with GIMP :)

Feel free to use it if you want.

21. I can't stand the Brosnan films.
They're way too cheezy, rely far more on pretty babes and big explosions than plot, and are the type of movie I'd want to see only in the theatre so I can have a good ol' time with friends.

As a suspense/thriller/espionage series, there are only 6 of the 20 Bond films I'd recommend. None of them are Brosnan films.

Now "Die Another Day" (which I haven't seen) had some makings of a good plot, but I'd seen Bond do the vengance routine before, and without the campy "big machine built by kachillionaire that will destroy the world", and it was done far more effectively... Why "D.A.D." incorporated the typical megalomaniac with ridiculous weapon and scheme is beyond me. I wonder how many contrived stunts they threw in as well... a pity as I love vengeance/revenge based plotlines and "D.A.D." had a new take on it.

Even the Moore era movies, when they resorted to the big nasty weapon and mega villain, did so with more credibility. "The Spy Who Loved Me" is a classic, not to be missed by anybody, yet features a megalomaniac with some ultra-doomsday weapon.

If you want suspense and can overlook an occasionally dated music score (oh, it's definitely 1980 materal!), try "For Your Eyes Only" - great cold war plot, there's no incredible baddie looking for world domination (just real characters for once), and there's plenty of action as well. And GREAT acting on the part of all, especially Roger Moore who has said in public he hated the idea of Bond killing in cold blood (but did so, effectively and convincingly).

It seems weird watching "The Living Daylights" now - what with Afghanistan and the Mujahedeen and all... which is sad as it's otherwise a good story that merely lacks a strong villain... and yet its weak villains seem to have more credibility than the megalomaniacs of the Brosnan era...

22. Megalomaniacs and Bond go together like ham and cheese
I know that's easy to curse the current fare for being overblown when comparing this to the Bonds of the past. Not only the same villain formula employed agin 'N agin. But I look at it this way: Everything about Bond is supposed to be over the top. Big villains, big stakes, big explosions, big guns, big engines... Everything.

Since today's budgets are way bigger and the special EFX are so much better, they need some major league psychos on the screen to keep from being overwhelmed by their toys.

Pierce is a pretty good Bond. He's like a bread and butter Bond, not a caviar and champaign one. He's different and that's cool by me.

To me, if it's Bond, it's all good.

23. Connery. Sean Connery.
Brosnan pretty good; never liked any of the others. Sean was The Man; one of the great character portrayals in film history. Hmmmmm...Pussy Galore (Honor Blackman).

25. The books are great...
When I was a kid, I got hooked on the books. Ian Fleming's Bond is so much more hard boiled than the movie Bond. If you really like Bond, read the books, it gives you a whole new dimension.

Every time a movie came out, I would compare it to the books. I liked the 60's Bond movies, they got a little too outrageous in the 70's and 80's, have gotten a little bit better in the 90's.

Regardless, Bond is cool...

27. "Goldfinger", "The Spy who Loved Me".
My two favorite Bond films.

"Goldfinger" is my favorite. A great villian, cool gadgets, and um, Pussy Galore (who in the novel was a lesbian...the film could only hint at that"

"The Spy Who Loved Me"...the best of the Roger Moore as Bond films. A great title song sung by Carly Simon (and good overall score by Marvin Hamlisch), great story and gadgets.

A VERY guilty pleasure..."Moonraker". WAY over the top. but fun.
