Does the TV cable company have secret waves they can send out
to find out the people that are hooked up
inadvertintly to cable TV without paying? I
am asking for a friend of mine that I don't
even know very well.

1. Oh not just that
but when you watch, they are watching you. Even if you are not watching. You can be sitting in front of the tv and they can see you.

4. They use satellites w/ infrared sensors
Edited on Sat Dec-13-03 04:05 AM by alg0912
...that can detect the heat differential from an illegal cable box. Unfortunately, heat caused by friction from masturbating can mimic that heat differential so, if I were you (or your friend), I'd avoid touching myself...

P.S. Hi NSMA! :hi:

7. There's no box, it's just the inadvertint free cable.
I don't know him well enough to mention
the other thing. What about doing hunderds
of buttocks curls, would the infra red heat
from that that mimic anything?

3. Illegal Hookups?
When I moved in this place, the cable was on. It was on for three years before they noticed - and they only noticed because there was a problem with someone else's service and they had to check the outside cabling.

I guess they'd discover illegal, home-done ones the same way. No idea about secret waves, but I guess that's how I get the special messages from the TV.

I won't make fun of your spelling since you're Austrian.

5. What did they do when they found out
you'd been inadvertintly watching free cable TV
for three years?

8. Yes, in a way...

One of our local cable providers has been "upgrading" it's system for sometime now, and one of the things it announced it was doing was weeding out illegal leaching of its service. I don't know the specfics, but I believe a simple signal is sent along the cable line and "pings" legal and illegal boxes. But I could be way off from what was/is done, so don't quote me.

EDIT: simle = simPle Gawd, my spelling's atrocious tonight! ;-) I've been having this problem on another forum that I'm on right now too...ugh.

10. The reason he asked was because he saw an ad on TV
that said the cable company said they had
"new technology" that could tell if he
was stealing cable TV. If it's only that they
can tell through a box then he's OK because
he doesn't have a box only the cable that goes
through my VCR.

11. Your friend's cable goes through YOUR VCR?
Ah-nuld, you should focus more on your buttock curls, and not so much on your "friend's" cable. Tsk Tsk Tsk. And this from the Governor, no less.
