Scamming the 419 Scammers

the choice of using the name Derek Trotter.

Del is an abb. of Derek and Del Boy was a character in the BBC comedy series Only Fools and Horses. I'm not sure if that was aired in the USA or not. The series was one of the most popular of all time in the UK.

There is a great audio on another story (Wanted: Dead or Dead)in the list where the scamee calls Mr. Trotter to discuss importing Mogwai meat for Klingon Meats, Inc. :rofl:

These stories had me in tears last night....when you think about it, the Nigerian scammers are pretty easy to turn the tables on.

and I'm still in tears of laughter - that keyboard really cracks me up. If you scroll down to near the bottom there are pictures of Del Boy and his brother Rodney. I'd realised further back that it was all done from England and hence the choice of name. I've come across links to similar ones on the banjo chat groups where pictures of expensive banjos have been lifted from earlier ebay sales and reposted afresh ready to set someone for one of these scams. The banjo community easily recognise such scams and post warnings quite apart from warning ebay. I also have a friend in VA who was contacted for the purpose of providing banjo lessons by email with the promise of payment up front by money order etc. The variations seem to be endless.
