1. One of my good friends is from California,

Crescent City, I believe, and she has a *faint* accent that I can hear, but beyond that I always think she just sounds like the rest of us MNasotans. Although, she's lived here for a few years, so maybe it just disappeared? I had a friend from South Dakota who used to laugh at me when I insisted that I did NOT have an accent, and that I sounded just like Dan Rather.
