At the end of the day what do you do with your pocket change?

There is a drawer in my bedroom that become the quick repository of anything I have in my pockets at the end of the day. Then when it becomes too much, I clean out the change and deposit it in one of the many cups I have collected over the years. The only problem I’m now running out of cups.

That said, it was off point as far as what I was thinking.

What I really wanted to say is that it is that it is a damn shame that since Bush’s selection the pocket change drawer is providing more return than is my 401K. Depressing!

1. I put it in a empty coffee can on my dresser
And then when the can is full, I take it to the Dominick's grocery store not too far from my place. The Dominick's has a CoinStar machine that will convert your change into cash...dollar bills. I end up getting about $30 - $40 each can...which I can then use to grocery shop. It works out pretty well.

3. It is estimated that Americans have more
than a billion dollars in coins in jars, drawers etc in our homes. My wife and I throw our nickels, dimes and pennies in a large jar every day and every January roll them up and they pay for a night or two in the French Quarter prior to Mardi Gras. Ah, Family tradition.

4. In a drawer.
Got a set of little drawers from an old rolltop desk on my chest of drawers. One drawer is chock full of change.

9. Last January
during a bad snowstorm the kids were bored (no power) so I got out all the change from around the house along with change wrappers that had been in the closet for years.

I was thinking we had about $80 but at the end of 4-5 hours we had $489 ! We were all skipping and jumping around like lunatics....lol

Family work - family decision.....The votes went for a VCR/DVD combo!

10. It goes to our two youngest grandchildren
We save loose change in jars, then from time to time when our 10 year old granddaughters come to stay for a day or two, we take them to put in the CoinStar machine, and let them divide the money.

They use part of it for whatever they want, and save the rest. The girls enjoy it a lot, and we enjoy watching them have fun.

12. good idea
It's like giving money but you really don't notice that it's gone. I like to save mine in a jar till summer and then use it for spending money for something fun or my girlfriend and I go on a weekend vacation.

11. I likewise keep it in my wallet
in my purse and use it as I make cash purchases. Apparently few people do that, and it's why they have to make billions of dollars of change every year.

13. I put it in a small box...
(a guitar effects box, approx. 3x4x3) in the glove compartment of my car. When I go through a drive-thru at fast food place I count out as much as I can in as small a denomination as the wait allows. Four bucks worth of nickels ... that'll teach 'em to keep me waiting.
