Anyone subscribe to Free Inquiry? What do you think of it?
I got a solicitation in the mail today for it and was thinking of adding it to my reading pile (The Nation, Mother Jones, The Progressive, Washington Spectator).

I was thinking of dropping Washington Spectator in favor of this since I barely get through my reading as it is. Yes, no? What would you recommend?

1. I subscribe.
I like it. Sometimes much better than at other times. Richard Dawkins and Wendy Kaminer write regularly for it. Unfortunately so do Christopher Hitchens and Nat Hentoff, as well as a few Libertarian types. But FI took a very strong stance against the war and they continue to criticize it, despite some complaints from some quarters. They're also very critical--often scathingly--of the religious right. A couple of summers ago they did an excellent issue on Islam, featuring some pieces by secularists from Islamic countries, and they just ran an two-part series on the Catholic Church and the Holocaust.

On the whole, I recommend it. It's cheap and always an interesting read.

2. I'll second that recommendation.
I just hold my nose while I pass up Hitchens and the Libbies.

Dawkins is awesome.

3. Don't know it... but when I can I also grab the Washington Monthly
http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/ Good (generally liberal) view on the goings on inside the beltway.
