Grand Valley State wins the D2 national football championship!!!

Hats of to the Lakers football team!! The largest D2 school at over 20,000 students won a back-to-back national championship today!!!

The GVSU Lakers beat the North Dakota Fighting Siouxage (sewage) today 10-3 in the freezing rain, with NDSU Bison fans like my self watching and cheering for the Lakers.

Even though the Bison have switched over to Division 1, we did NOT want to see the Sioux (our biggest rivals) win this game, or else we wouldn't hear the END of it from these idiots (except you, Alex Covington.:-)). Nevermind the fact that NDSU offered UND a 2-year contract for all sports to keep the 110-year old football and other athletics rivalry going after this year even though we'd be in Division 1 (I-AA football) and UND is still wallowing in the increasing mediocrity of Division II, and UND basically spit in our face, acting like little babies, saying they didn't want to play us anymore.

Now that the UND Siouxage don't want to play us anymore, we at NDSU can concentrate on new rivalries with other D-I teams, like South Dakota State, Northern Colorado, Montana, and the like.

Even though D2 football means NOTHING to me anymore, it was really nice to see the Sioux lose today.

Congratulations, Lakers!!!!!!!!!:party::party:

1. They had to beat former #1 Saginaw Valley State to do it
SVSU gave them their only loss on the season. The GLIAC may be the toughest D2 conference in the country, though I'm sure you'd disagree.
John
GVSU and SVSU are ARCH-rivals. They respect each other -- but also want to beat each others brains in. Congrats to GVSU (again).

3. No, I don't disagree. The NCC is crapola now.

The GLIAC is the new powerhouse, IMO.

We've wanted to get out of D2 for a looong time. Northern Colorado, NDSU (North Dakota St.) and SDSU (South Dakota St.) all moved up to D-I. We're thinking about forming a new D-I conference with some other schools. The crying girly Sue want to stay a big fish in a little pond in the diluuted D2, and with Minnesota-Duluth coming into the NCC, that makes for a shelled-out corpse of a former powerhouse conference.
