Seeds an Stems Again Blues
I'm sitting alone, Saturday night, watching the Late, Late show....

A bottle of wine, some cigarettes, I got no place to go.........

But I saw your old man today.....he was wearin' my brand nnew shoes...but I'm down to stems and seeds again too....

I saw my old friend Bob today, up from Bowling Green ....he had the prettiest gal, i have have ever seen...But I couldn't hide my tears at all, because she looked just like you.

Now other people tell me there are other way's to get high, but i'm to far gone to try...

1. I used to save all my seeds and stems
and assorted non-bud pieces parts in a big ziploc freezer bag. Once a year or so I'd melt a couple sticks of butter and cook that refuse up for brownies. Weed waste makes baby jeebus cry.

2. Did Jerry Jeff Walker write that?
I really can't remember, but yeah, that was the anthem of the dry times many years ago. On the flip side, when you were flush with weed, it was John Prine's "Illegal Smile".

3. Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airman
I stumbled on them in 1973...somwhere in Boston. I small, nondesript bar.

The Commander was kickin' ass on the keyboard, if I recall.....

7. Jerry Jeff, God Bless Him....
wrote Mr. Bojangles (with Dave Bromberg backing him up)

But he was most famous for "Up Against the Wall Redneck Mother" and "Sngria Wine"

6. I got stoned and I missed it.
was sitting in my basement.
I just rolled myself a taste
Of something green and gold and glorious
To get me through the day.
Then my friend yelled through the transom
"Grab your coat and get your hat son,
There's a nut down on the corner,
Givin' dollar bills away"

But I laid around a bit
Then I had another hit.
Then I rolled myself a bauma.
Then I thought about my mama.
Then I fooled around, played around
jacked around a while and then

I got stoned and I missed it.
I got stoned and I missed it.
I got stoned and it rolled right by.
I got stoned and I missed it.
I got stoned and I missed it.
I got stoned... oh me... oh my.

It took seven months of urgin'
Just to get that local virgin
With the sweet face
Up to my place
To fool around a bit.
Next day she woke up rosy,
And she snuggled up so cozy.
When she asked me how I liked it,
Lord it hurts me to admit,

I got stoned and I missed it.
I got stoned and I missed it.
I got stoned and it rolled right by.
I got stoned and I missed it.
I got stoned and I missed it.
I got stoned... oh me... oh my.

I'm makin' no excuses
For the many things I uses
Just to sweeten up my relationships
And brighten up my day.
When my earthly race is over
And I'm ready for the clover
And they ask me how my life has been
I guess I'll have to say,

I got stoned and I missed it.
I got stoned and I missed it.
I got stoned and it rolled right by.
I got stoned and I missed it.
I got stoned and I missed it.
I got stoned... oh me... oh my.
