What is this fucking shit I'm watching on CBS?
Edited on Thu Jul-06-06 08:12 PM by Rabrrrrrr
With some dweeb-ass goth fucknut trying to talk about "music" and some other badly dressed poseur-wannabe fake-party-hearty trash trying to be "metal" with their "goth" eye makeup and piercings and leather and attempts at literate discourse?

Jesus Christ, I thought American Idol was for ignorant assholes. I guess I have to raise my opinion of them.

1. Dave Navarro and Tommy Lee doing what? What's this shit?
Accccccckkkkkkk!!!!! Ripping off Nirvana? Badly, too. Fake posing and everything...

*grabs clicker* This is why I don't watch the networks.

2. Talk about an asshole trying to "be" something...
She was fucking awful - especially the fake running around at the end, and her hood over her eyes trying to show "suffering" and "a pain that requires her to withdraw from the world".

Added in with the overwrought sophomoric "lyrics of pain" of Nirvana, and it was pure unadulterated fucking garbage.

Who are these assholes? Do any of them have a mind or a brain of their own? Or have they just bought into the whole "metal image" thing?

4. Watching these guys, they have all the "moves" that they associate
with "music", but they don't have any goddamn brains, skills, or talents.

But, by God, they've spent a hell of time practicing "the moves" - the way they sit, the way they look pensive, the way they "emote", the way they carry their heads....

Assholes.

5. Okay, now some poseur fuckbag is trying to sing "LA Woman"
What heresy. And what an abomination.

The guy totally fucking sucks.

I mean, he really does - his voice just isn't good, not for this kind of music.

And he has no charisma or stage presence - except that he has, as in my post just above this, clearly spent untold hours learning "the moves". Not well, though.

Yeah, you assholes, music is all about "the moves".

Edit - thanks to you Rabrrrrrr, I'm switching back every time you post a new mini-rant. But I'm done! Back to "First 48".

was awesome, particular since he did all his own singing in that film. Too bad they didn't use his vocals for the soundtrack.

42. (Slight hijack re Val Kilmer)
When I've seen him as "himself"--I don't find him attractive at all. And what I've heard of his personal life makes me dislike him a bit.

But he really throws himself into a part. The Jim Morrison movie was a bit silly, but he DID Jim Morrison. And I fell in love with his Doc Holliday in Tombstone.

14. It's a "Tinsel Town Rebellion band"
From madam wong's to starwood
To the whiskey on the strip
You can hear the crashing, blasting strum
Of bands that come to be real hip
And get a record contract
From a talent scout some day
They'll sell their ass, their cocks and balls
They'll take the check 'n' walk away....

.....But then again this system works
As perfect as a dream
It works for all of those record company pricks
Who come to skim the cream
From the cesspools of excitement
Where jim morrison once stood
It's the tinsel town rebellion
From downtown hollywood

12. And I guess the judges were chosen because they have sufficient tattoos
and I gues they have "the look". They are apparently a supergroup? Are they a real supergroup, or just a made up group for this show? Have any of them ever read a book? Showered? Written anything better than what an 8th grade heavily-emoting teenage girl would write after breaking up with the boyfriend that was never actually her boyfriend except in her dreams?

Thank you, MTV, for making music all about "the look".

15. Yeah, this last guy looked more like he should be the organic poseur
the kind that perform in flannel shirts and dockers, or jeans and sweaters, and one of the band guys wears a beret, and another has sideburns, and another has a goatee (maybe a slightly overweight drummer), and maybe there's a vegetarian lesbian playing bass.

Like this:

Or this - OMG I hit the jackpot with a google search on "organic rock bands"! Here's the ultimate cliche, and NOTE -- I found this AFTER I wrote the above paragraph.

18. Okay, this Matt Hoffener guy has a great voice!
He's in tune, and has a real nice smoothness to it, with a little bit of that Dio growl every now and again.

And, unlike most of these metal assholes, he can actually sing a melody with more than a couple notes, and some good sized leaps in pitch.

:applause:

I saw about 10 seconds of him. Compared to the 10 seconds of the others, he was the best performer. He can ditch that look though. It's not him.

20. But... but... but... the red dyed hairs on the left side of his head
prove that he's "edgy" and that he's a musician!

And yeah, far better than the others. I was wondering if I reacted so well to him because the others were such shit, or if he is genuinely good.

I think, in all honesty, that even outside this show, without the others to compare him to, I would like his voice. I didn't quite like his choice of music - especially that godawful bopbopbopbop shit - but I think he has a voice that can serve him well, and he could do some exciting stuff if he could find some musicians to help train him.

Tommy Lee is such an asshole - why is Matt sucking up to him? Matt's the only guy with talent, why isn't be lambasting them and tearing them a new asshole like Zappa (or I) would? Fucker had his chance, and he blew it.

And I'm not surprised at all that they chose him to go.

32. This thing was on last night
on the West Coast.

It's called 'Rock Star- Supernova'

http://www.cbs.com/primetime/rock_star2/

I agree, this is one of worst I've seen in a long time.
In fact, I could only take the first 10 minutes of it.

I had to change the channel- the makeup-inability to carry a tune-etc.
I couldn't watch it after that.

Apparently I missed the one guy who could sing and now he's cut.

and decided it wasn't worth my time. A bunch of overly self-concious pretty boys trying to replace Michael Hutchence of INXS (whom I'm sure some would also consider a pretty-boy). But what do I know? I watch American Idol, and I'm a pretty ignorant asshole as well :).

the ones who ignite were vampires and weren't needed anyway.

BTW My wife and I refuse to get into this this summer but we couldn't figure out who the three "bandmembers" were. I looked it up.
