What is the big deal?

Besides the fact that most Americans are idiots, what is the big deal about this "capture"? Did he commit crimes against the American people? Is his capture really that big? Where is Osama? I am sitting here watching this shit on the tube and they are making it out like we have caught someone who means anything. Saddam was no threat at all any longer. His loyalists will just get stronger now and a lot more will die. He was just some friggin guy now and this means nothing except that our troops are at even more of a risk. Can someone please explain what the real importance is here? I thought we killed him a few months ago? I just can't believe that the media is acting like this is really such a big thing.

on a PR perspective we did a good job of making Saddam look weak by releasing pics of him being checked for lice.

Saddam was a bad guy, sorry. For as much as I didn't agree with going into Iraq- he was. It doesn't mean at all that things are over, and I think most people are smart enough to realize that. However, his "capture" is pretty big in that it will have an impact, and violence in Iraq will undoubtedly escalate. Sure it doesn't make much of a difference in the fact that Saddam didn't have any control any longer, so his power is by no means decreasing- but I think it definitely is of some importance and it is sort of ignorant to say it isn't.

I guess I didnt mean to say it was of no importance, and I am really not as ignorant as you say, but what I meant is that it is being reported as "Mission accomplished" again. Yes, Saddam was/is a bad guy, but so is Bush. I still think this whole "war" is bullshit and I still hold firm to the belief that Saddam was just another evildoer along with many others out there. My point here was that he lost his power months ago and this capture doesnt mean a thing. Except for the esculated attacks that are about to come.

for the US this is a good thing in that it makes the occupation slightly easier. It is good because this murderer and vile scum accountable for his crimes. It does however change anything
