Ever want to deck someone you just met?
I went to a cookout on Saturday and while there I met some of the hostess's friends that I hadn't met before. I sat down to chat and every 5 minutes this one woman kept complaining about the music. Seemed no matter what came on, she couldn't stand it.

She'd ask "what the hell is this?" and we'd tell her and she'd say "Well, who cares?"

Finally I said "I do" and I got up and went and talked to some other people.

Ya know, even if I didn't like the music, I wouldn't just sit and bitch about it all day. It's obvious SOMEONE was enjoying it, otherwise, it would have been changed to something different.

honestly, I wanted to knock her lights out, and I'm not really like that....

1. Maybe she should have just left the cookout.
What's the point of sticking around if you're going to complain the whole time? Seems rather pointless to me.

13. Hellbent on being miserable
that's what some people are. I was at a local waterpark recently and one woman was complaining about everything on one particular splashpool/river combination - her kids got ahead of her and she was wailing about the attraction attendants, all of "those kind of people" that kept her from staying together with her kids, and that if anything happened to them she would sue everybody. Decking her might have been a bit extreme, but I finally chimed in and told her to shut up and try to have a good time.

15. well it could be fun
if you could find someone else to talk with about how much the music sucks.

I mean, I was at this one party and all they played was Oasis. :puke:

But it ended up being really cool because I met this really hot girl who hates Oasis just as much as I do.

2. Sure all the time...
I must average one or two people a week that I meet and, five minutes later, would love to take a lead pipe to. But self-control always gets the better of me.

5. LOL
Resistance is futile...go ahead...you know you want to. You're DYING to.

Plus, you'd be doing a service...we don't want the mods falling asleep, do we? Gotta give 'em something to do, after all.

I'd do it. Except I'm a chicken-shit.

We'll time the lock. Shouldn't take more than a minute or two, tops.

19. Yes, yesterday at the beach.
So these people pulled up obnoxiously close to us (it's a private island beach and you need a boat to get there) even though the beach was empty at this point. Initially, they were just people that should have been wearing more clothes, but they were sleeping and so not outwardly annoying.

Then, they woke up...

Couple #1 spent some time whining about how they could have afforded a yacht but they preferred a small boat (which was a really shitty small boat by the way). Couple #1 then starts telling Couple #2 about the yacht club they belonged to (yeah right).

"Oh, well, you know we probably couldn't join the yacht club now. It used to be easier to get into. I mean, it was never easy to get into. It was still very hard. I mean, YOU could have NEVER gotten into the yacht club."

Honestly, why the hell does couple #2 hang out with Couple #1? My family doesn't have a yacht and doesn't belong to a yacht club, but I sure as hell would not belong to any yacht club with these yahoos.

Then, on the other side of us, another couple small boats pulled up filled with some guys probably between like 18-22. They were very nice. Pretty much they spent their time drinking beer and clamming. Never got loud or annoying. However, they had a dog with them (that they cleaned up after).

Couple #1 starts in again. "This beach has gone to hell. I can't believe they allow people like that to have a membership (FYI: It's not an exclusive beach. No one votes on the members. You pay a membership due and anyone in the family can go) And they have a dog, too. I thought dogs weren't allowed on the beach. I should call the owner of the island. I want their membership revoked. If I step in dogshit, then I'm going to shoot that dog. Don't get me wrong; I like dogs, but if I step in dogshit then that dog has a problem."

Later on they also complained that we were swimming too close to their boat. Um...then why the fuck did you pull your boat up next to our boats? Also, their boat already looked like it was falling apart, but I still doubt that simply having a person swimming next to it would cause the final collapse.

Seriously, if you hate all of humankind that much and think you're so much better (but so obviously not) then why the fuck do you even leave the house in the morning? God I really wanted to fucking punch Couple #1 in the face. I doubt they could have resisted. They didn't look like they could move very fast.

I have dealt with people who just hate all music when they are trying to follow a group conversation bc they have hearing issues.

21. Years ago, I met a man at a social gathering
who asked me what I did for a living.

I told him that I was a Japanese-English translator.

All of a sudden out of nowhere, he says in a real snide tone, "Well, I guess you're going to have to marry another Japanese-English translator."

We hadn't been flirting. I did not even find him attractive. This was just one of those casual chit-chat encounters that one has at social gatherings where one doesn't know anybody.

I was speechless as he turned away and went off to stalk somebody else.

Seconds later, I realized that I should have said, "Don't worry, loser. I have no plans to marry you."

Decking him would have been satisfying, too, now that I think of it.

I wasn't going to answer this particular thread because as a rule my brain doesn't work like that. Meaning little irritations don't make me want to slap someone and I am offended by people who say such things. Non-violence is non-violence. However, there are some diliberately provoking polka dancers that I might like to slap.
