i am selling an item on ebay
i just had a "watcher" email me to ask what my reserve price is "for bidding purposes". is this kosher? i would have never even thought to ask a seller that. it doesn't show on the item for a reason.

i also have a "buy it now" price. wouldn't it be fairly obviously that my reserve price will be more that the buy it now?

1. It should give
someone who has a brain an idea of what the reserve would be. I would simply tell the potential "bidder" that you prefer to keep the reserve private and see if they get the brilliant idea to look at the BIN price.

4. You should be able to sell it at your buy it now price,
don't get frustrated if you don't the first time you put it up for auction. I have sold everything I have put up although a few times I had to put them up a couple of times. Goodluck!

5. Reserve prices on eBay
Reserve prices turn off a lot of potential bidders and are usually not a good idea. If you go into the Community section of eBay and then into "Seller Central" you can learn a LOT from the people who post in there. If you must install a reserve price on one of your auctions, the best idea is to put the reserve price right in the listing, rather than trying to make a potential buyer guess how much money you want for your widget. If someone asks, tell them. There's no reason to keep it a secret.

Also, you can ask a buyer to pay for insurance on the item being shipped, but if they refuse, buy it anyway! Insurance protects the sender, NOT the receiver, and if something IS damanged in shipping, you're going to have to refund your buyer and you will get your money back from the post office.

Do not do "As-Is" auctions. If you take Paypal as a form of payment, "As-Is" means nothing.

I agree...the potential bidder should have realized what the amount was from your Buy It Now price, but some people are just dense and don't put two and two together.

6. I just checked your auction...
I see that at one point you say the item is New - Never Opened, but you also say you took two pictures to check the quality. If you took two pictures, then it can't be "new" and you need to change the wording to "Used".

I see it is a Paypal only auction. Be sure that when you send the item (if it sells) you send it "Delivery Confirmation WITH Signature". That's the only way you're protected under Paypals Seller protections.

"Insurance Optional"...no it isn't. If they don't pay for it, YOU buy it anyway! It looks like a nice little camera and you want to be protected if it gets damaged in-transit!
