Do you remember when Jerry Springer's TV show was pretty good?
I seem to recall that when The Jerry Springer Show first came on it was a lot like the Donahue show. That it was usually pretty serious. They discussed serious issues. But just like Donahue, about once a week, he did a really dumb show, like the time Phil Donahue wore a dress. But somewhere along the way, Springer realized that he could get better ratings doing really stupid shows five days a week.

Am I imagining this?

1. No you are not imagining this at all.
But now , that show is so awful. Anytime that I feel like I am a sucky person, all I have to do is watch that show and I feel like Herr Einstein.

3. thanks, I thought I had gone insane
I don't understand why stupid stuff gets such ratings. I don't remember the last time I watched the show. But I can't say I blame Jerry Springer too much. He's made a fortune. I blame the lame taste of the American people. It's kind of sad, actually.

5. "Herr Einstein"
That reminds me of something on Craig Ferguson tonight that was funny. Craig was talking about some German guy that has the reputation as the worst movie director in the world. I don't remember the guy's first name, but his last name is "Boll" pronounce "Ball." Since the guy's German, Craig kept referring to him as "Herr Ball." It made me laugh.

8. ... and now he wants to get in the ring with his critics!
On July 17th, 2006 Uwe will start filming his next feature film, “Seed”, starring Will Sanderson, Ralf Moeller, Michael Pare & Andrew Jackson. Following that film he will go into production in late September with another feature called “Postal”. Both movies will be shot in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Towards the end of the filming of the “Postal” the 5 most outspoken critics will be flown into Vancouver and supplied with hotel rooms. As a guest of Uwe Boll they will be given the chance to be an extra / stand-in in “Postal” and have the opportunity to put on boxing gloves and enter a BOXING RING to fight Uwe Boll. Each critic will have the opportunity to bring down Uwe in a 10 bout match. There will be 5 matches planned over the last two days of the movie. Certain scenes from these boxing matches will become part of the Postal movie. All 5 fights will be televised on the internet and will be covered by international press.

To be eligible you must be a critic who has posted on the internet or have written in magazines / newspapers at least two extremely negative articles in the year 2005. Critics of 2006 will not be considered. Please submit proof of your negative reviews & comments via e-mail to:

info@boll-kg.de

All challengers must be healthy males, weighing between 64 kilograms (140 lbs.) and 86 kilograms (190 lbs.). You will require to be physically examined by a doctor and sign the necessary release forms for liability, etc. You will not be paid or entitled to any residuals or fees. Your transportation & hotel costs will be covered.

Dr. Uwe Boll’s invitation to fight and / or appear in his film is extended to all his harshest critics. Roger Avary and Quentin Tarantino are among the most eligible candidates.

2. Nope
A few months ago he did a retrospective. One of the shows was an interview with a homeless guy in NYC — I guess you could say "homeless," because he lived in a big tunnel or something where trains ran.

It was a very enlightening show, but I guess those kinda shows didn't get audiences as big as "I Cheated On My Brother With My Other Brother."

I'd like to see the show you mention. I wonder if it's on YouTube or something.

EDIT: I meant the first one you mentioned. :)

10. Jerry did it out of Cinci so it was a direct Donahue rip off
I shouldn't say rip off it was right out of the Donahue mold. Phil started in Dayton-when I was a kid he was a mainstay of local TV before he went national.

Springer just filled in after Phil went to Chicago basically. I never saw that format of show I just know that he started doing actually talk show stuff and some producers came to him and said "Look we can make truckloads of money" so they went to the fighting and stuff.

9. Yeah, seasons 1 and 2 where the loooove triangle was only every 10th ep?
But all the other eps were about something freakish? But at least sincere?

11. You should listen to this story -
It explains everything.

Ambient Sleaze - by Jeffrey R. DeRego (AKA BigMcLargehuge)

“Good god, who’d do something like that?” Sarah rummaged through her purse for a handkerchief but couldn’t seem to focus on the task. Her mind was consumed with images of Tony’s perforated body.

“Well, I’ve seen the Tony Autumn Show, so we’ve got an APB out on everyone with a sense of moral decency and every freak, transvestite, midget wrestler, incestuous dad, jilted lover…”

12. That's still on?
Wow, I haven't seen it in ages, guess I haven't missed much.

I do know a girl that was on Springer once. Her and her girlfriend faked a lesbian love triangle show, the producers egg those people on to lie and fight so fiercely.
