MTV is even working with YouTube, so that pretty much screws the pooch for the rest of the "YOU AIN'T STEALING FROM OUR ARTISTS; ONLY WE'RE ALLOWED TO DO THAT!" corporations that yelped the loudest about the Napster nuke that never happened.

I'm not getting what case these attorneys have. Unlike Napster's formerly free CD-quality stuff, the material on YouTube isn't exactly HDTV here. It's low-bit Flash and the videos are usually decades-old VHS-quality, or modern with satellite graphic glitches. Totally compliant with Fair Use, it's no different than taking a book out at a damned library for Christ's sake.

I'm thinking about buying The Best of the Alarm because of their videos being on YouTube re-sparked my interest in that group. Wow, that's money that will go directly to the label's pockets that they didn't have yesterday, right?

Did anyone ever stop and think that there wouldn't be a NEED for YouTube if there was a fair video subscription model instead of Pretty Princess TV?
