Poll question: Best comedy film ever
Since they only give 10 slots, I had to simply pick 10. If your favorite is not on this list, please reply with your choice.

Edited on Sun Jul-23-06 02:12 PM by Rabrrrrrr
of all time.

Not only funny because of its total overwroughtness and saccharine awfulness, but also funny because SO MANY people, especially women, took it sooooooooo seriously...

My friends and I laughed through the whole fucking hyper-emoted train wreck!

7. Animal House
It's just like Christianity, completely misunderstood and warped by too many of its disciples. The Deltas rebelled against typical frats. Besides, the expression on Belushi's face when the horse dies is one of the most perfect moments ever captured on film.

Edited on Mon Jul-24-06 06:01 AM by jus_the_facts
:hi:
The Galaxy song from "Monty Python's The Meaning of Life"

Whenever life gets you down, Mrs. Brown,
And things seem hard or tough,
And people are stupid, obnoxious or daft,
And you feel that you've had quite eno-o-o-o-o-ough,

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine thousand miles an hour.
It's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned,
'Round the sun that is the source of all our power.
Now the sun, and you and me, and all the stars that we can see,
Are moving at a million miles a day,
In the outer spiral arm, at fourteen thousand miles an hour,
Of a galaxy we call the Milky Way.

Our galaxy itself contains a hundred million stars;
It's a hundred thousand light-years side to side;
It bulges in the middle sixteen thousand light-years thick,
But out by us it's just three thousand light-years wide.
We're thirty thousand light-years from Galactic Central Point,
We go 'round every two hundred million years;
And our galaxy itself is one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.

<waltz>

Our universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding,
In all of the directions it can whiz;
As fast as it can go, that's the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth;
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere out in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth!

- Eric Idle

Pure genius, it just had bad luck with the release. It's also one of the very few movies equally good in the German version as in the English one - the humor is totally different, but it works just as well.

19. My favorite "Holy Grail" scene
But I'm a guy, so ya gotta expect I'm twisted.

GIRLS:
A spanking! A spanking!
DINGO:
You must spank her well, and after you have spanked her, you may deal with her as you like, and then, spank me.
AMAZING:
And spank me.
STUNNER:
And me.
LOVELY:
And me.
DINGO:
Yes. Yes, you must give us all a good spanking!
GIRLS:
A spanking! A spanking! There is going to be a spanking tonight!
DINGO:
And after the spanking, the oral sex.
GIRLS:
The oral sex! The oral sex!
GALAHAD:
Well, I could stay a bit longer.
LAUNCELOT:
Sir Galahad!
GALAHAD:
Oh, hello.
LAUNCELOT:
Quick!
GALAHAD:
What?
LAUNCELOT:
Quick!
GALAHAD:
Why?
LAUNCELOT:
You are in great peril!
DINGO:
No, he isn't.
LAUNCELOT:
Silence, foul temptress!
GALAHAD:
You know, she's got a point.
LAUNCELOT:
Come on! We will cover your escape!
GALAHAD:
Look, I'm fine!
LAUNCELOT:
Come on!
GIRLS:
Sir Galahad!
GALAHAD:
No. Look, I can tackle this lot single-handed!
DINGO:
Yes! Let him tackle us single-handed!
GIRLS:
Yes! Let him tackle us single-handed!
LAUNCELOT:
No, Sir Galahad. Come on!
GALAHAD:
No! Really! Honestly, I can cope. I can handle this lot easily.
DINGO:
Oh, yes. Let him handle us easily.
GIRLS:
Yes. Let him handle us easily.
LAUNCELOT:
No. Quick! Quick!
GALAHAD:
Please! I can defeat them! There's only a hundred-and-fifty of them!
DINGO:
Yes! Yes, he will beat us easily! We haven't a chance.
GIRLS:
We haven't a chance. He will beat us easily...

DINGO:
Oh, shit.

LAUNCELOT:
We were in the nick of time. You were in great peril.
GALAHAD:
I don't think I was.
LAUNCELOT:
Yes, you were. You were in terrible peril.
GALAHAD:
Look, let me go back in there and face the peril.
LAUNCELOT:
No, it's too perilous.
GALAHAD:
Look, it's my duty as a knight to sample as much peril as I can.
LAUNCELOT:
No, we've got to find the Holy Grail. Come on!
GALAHAD:
Oh, let me have just a little bit of peril?
LAUNCELOT:
No. It's unhealthy.
GALAHAD:
I bet you're gay.
LAUNCELOT:
No, I'm not.

From that I chose Blazing Saddles. I have soooooooooo many favorites, it's hard to pick a bestest, but am partial to the Griswold family, Ruthless People and She Devil and Something to Talk About. I like my comedy *dark* and :silly:

Can't wait to see My Superhero Girlfriend and Little Man this season.

And I think "Something About Mary" is a classic! For that matter, anything Ben Stiller is in

Here I babble, maybe I should start a "What's Your Top Ten Favorite Comedy Movies" thread :hi:

42. "In The Heat of the Night" was pretty funny.
I watched it the other night and was laughing all the way through.

Obviously, it was a serious theme, and the scenes where people are being threatened with death are not funny.

But the Sidney Poiter character, Tibbs, and the Rod Steiger, character, the police chief, are like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck.

Steiger keeps sending or trying to send Poiter back to the train station and he just can't get rid of him. Poitier keeps wanting to leave, but can't get the hell out of there. Their glances at each other are hilarious, as well as many of they're comments. Steiger's Southern police chief just constantly has this look of "why me?" on his face. Warren Oates is pretty funny, too. The first couple of times I saw this in my life, I didn't really pick up on the satire and comedy.
