I got my wisdom teeth pulled today. Ask me anything.
It didn't hurt at all because they gave me that stuff that makes your mouth numb. But my mouth tastes like crap. Now I have to take painkillers for the next 3 days. I have to take one at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and before bedtime.

After all these painkillers I am thinking of starting up my own conservative radio show. LOL

1. My husband had a wisdom tooth pulled today, too.
(Maybe it's a Monday thing?) He suffering, though, and I just put him to bed with a Vicodin and one loudly purring cat. You sound okay, though.

2. not so much a question as advise
DON'T EAT RICE.

You may think that it's a nice soft non-spicy food that's easy to chew.

THINK AGAIN.

The grains of rice will slide right into the empty sockets once occupied by your teeth and just sit there and be gross and painful until you can eject them with an oral syringe (your dentist gave you one right?).

4. I think I have one
He gave me a bag with gauze and all sorts of stuff in it. The only things I have eaten today are ramen noodles and spaghetti. Just soft stuff.

My mouth is just a little sore. I am not in pain or anything. Just my mouth tastes like blood.

5. if you don't have one, get one, they're cheap (well ask the dentist first)
They look like an injection syringe, only the tip is a curved plastic cone, instead of a needle obviously. Fill it with warm salty water and gently spray the stitches and the cavities. This clears out disgusting food bits and helps you heal without infection. If your dentist didn't explain this to you, you might have had something different done than I did, so call and ask if you should get one and use it.

3. ouch!
Hope you're OK.

I've seen people absolutely debilitated by having wisdom teeth pulled, and I've seen people up and around the same evening and looking great. The response varies a lot, I guess.

Take it easy, though, and rest up. It's an assault on the body no matter how you respond, and the body needs to recover. Sleep a lot.

Hope it stays easy!

6. Yeah
I am just fine. The dentist said to just stay home for the next few days. That mean no weight lifting. That hurts the most. :(

I wonder why you can't do anything hard? Is it because of the painkillers?

All I have done today is take a nap and play video games.

7. partially because of the painkillers
but also if your heart is pounding, it may break the scabs on your gums screwing up the stitches etc.

8. Too bad
I was hoping to pump iron. Looks like I will have to wait a few days.

I don't have a syringe or whatever that thing was. But I do have instructions on how to use the medicine. I could call the dentists office if I have any problems.

Gotta go! Family Guy is coming on Adult Swim.

10. Excellent question.
You're the toughest interviewer I've seen since Mike Wallace in his salad days.

13. I had them out last year
Do you look like a chipmunk? I had all 4 out, and everyone told me I'd look like a chipmunk for two weeks. Someone else recommended some homeopathic preparations invented by Beverly Hills plastic surgeons for their clients who didn't want to get so puffy, and I took it for 3 days beforehand and 3 afterwards, and had virtually no swelling.

pulling teeth is such a hideous thing!

They grew last year.. hurt like hell, but by the time i went to the dentist they didn't hurt.. so she asked me what I wanted to do..

I asked what will haen if i leave them.. she said like.. nothing will happen.

17. Nooooo
I need mine out and don't want to do it. I'm a big baby. One of them came in sideways-it's going to be a real hassle to yank it out.

18. Proceed with caution
A caveat...Find out where the nerve is in relation to the tooth. Wisdom tooth removal is not trivial when it is not a simple extraction. I've learned through experience.

19. Did you get all four pulled? How much did it cost?
Family member has to get theirs out soon, and I have no idea what to expect in the way of payment. Hope you get to feeling better soon. :)
