The late John Stanford was a retired general who was recruited by the Seattle Chamber of Commerce to help it exploit and privatize the city's public schools by serving as the school district superintendent. The man was an absolute abomination, yet the Seattle media protrayed him as some sort of comic book hero. It was some of the most extraordinary propaganda I've ever seen.
When Stanford was dying of leukemia, the national media joined in the cryfiest, and they, too, repeated the exaggerations and lies. One of the most bizzare episodes was featured on Niteline. It started with a video of a man leaning over a memorial to Stanford at the Seattle Center, fondly caressing the memorial with his back to the camera. Then the man stood up and turned around. It was Roger Erskine, the Executive Director of the corrupt Seattle Education Association (a former teachers union)!
Next, the camera panned a classroom. The teacher who walked past was one of Seattle's biggest teachers union whores.
Next, the camera cut to Seattle Times media whore Joni Balter, who the Niteline crew interviewed. It was the first time I had seen Balter live, and her performance was unbelievable. She looked not just nervous but almost SCARED, constantly darting her eyes to the side as if she expected someone to jump out from behind the curtains and call her a LIAR.
It was an absolutely disgusting interview that didn't even RESEMBLE the truth. I e-mailed my concerns to Niteline. Unlike Oprah Winfrey (another media whore who fell for the John Stanford Story), they e-mailed me back, saying they had confidence in their investigation.
If I remember correctly, they were one of several media outfits who said it was hard to believe one man bearing a message that didn't mesh with what the entire City of Seattle was saying. Of course, we all know who speaks for the City of Seattle - the Seattle Times, which endorsed George W. Bush.
Screw Niteline.
