HBO Carnivāle fans: Second season is on the way!

HBO Orders New Season of Carnivāle

Saying that Carnivāle has developed "a devoted mass of followers looking for distinctive series programming," HBO executive vice president Carolyn Strauss announced Monday that the network has renewed the freshman drama series for a second season.

The show's premiere episode scored the highest-ever ratings for a new series debut on HBO, and the series proved itself this fall in one of television's most conspicuous timeslots. Audience numbers surged especially in the final weeks of season one, and a live chat with series stars Nick Stahl and Clancy Brown immediately following the final episode drew a the largest crowd of participants in HBO.com's ten-year history.

"The fans have been so passionate," says series creator and executive producer Daniel Knauf. "I read virtually every web posting there is. The postings aren't, 'Hey dude, bitchin' episode.' We get people who feel like this is like a big part of their lives. To me, that's insanely satisfying."

Carnivāle executive producer Howard Klein promises fans more of the supernatural intrigue that has been the show's hallmark. "We are obviously thrilled with the positive response that the show's generated in its first season," he says. "It's also great to see on the website how devoted fans discuss, debate and even argue with each other about every detail of the show. We look forward to another great season with even more twists and turns for them to figure out."

(whoops, posted to the wrong thread, sorry)For a half century since the end of WWII, the US led the world towards two policies to govern foreign affairs: One is that preventative was is never acceptable, and the other was that disputes and emergencies were best handled through the United Nations. Our actions in Iraq effectively killed both of those premises, and removed any claims to moral leadership which we may have had. On Sept 12 of 2003 the US arguably had more good will and support than at any time in our history; today, we are more despised and mistrusted than at any time in history. The world will pay for Bush's mistakes in the next century.

3. HBO continues to provide the best programming in TV
With this and Angels in America, the Sopranos, Six Feet Under and Curb Your Enthusiasm I don't think they have to worry about where viewers will be tuned on Sunday night.

4. agreed . . .
with the dearth of quality programming on the broadcast channels, HBO is a breath of fresh air . . . I, for one, can't wait for the next season of the Sopranos . . . wonder if they're ever going to resolve that little issue with the Russian "interior decorator"? . . . :)

6. I Completely Agree With You... EXCEPT...
when it comes to The Sopranos. It's gone from GREAT to HORRIBLE.

Did the original team of writers quit? I'm afraid I won't be giving them any more chances this year. RATS! That's disappointing too.
