Poll question: Eowyn or Arwen?
Edited on Tue Dec-16-03 03:07 PM by Paragon
Personally, I think Eowyn would be a little more, um...adventurous. But then again, Aragorn can always go back and get some sweet, sweet elf love from the ex. :silly:

After all the crap she's had to go through with her dad..and then to find out Aragorn is cheating?

There is no wrath like an elf woman scorned!!!

5. Aragorn cheated?
Aragorn is beyond reproach. He'd never do anything like that.

26. Nah... just I liked the speech
and I wanted to give the people who missed it a chance to see it. I hadn't thought of the juxtaposition of the link with my S&O sig pic. kinda unfortunate, but it's probably time to update the link anyway...

11. The funny thing is that Arwen and Aragorn are somewhat related--
Arwen is Elrond's daughter. Elrond had a brother, Elros, who chose to be mortal. Aragorn is descended from Elros. The other funny thing is that Arwen is many hundreds of years old, while Aragorn is normal human age.

If you're a Tolkien geek like I am (we prefer the term "loremaster," heh), you learn these things . . .

(I know: get a life.)

12. As a "Tolkien geek", you should know that...
...Aragorn is not "normal human age" - he's 87 years old. Rangers are blessed with very long life.

14. You should also know Aragorn is a Dúnedain
A term used in Middle-earth for the Men of Númenor and (especially) their descendants in Arnor and Gondor after the Downfall in Age 2, year 3319.

13. Liv Tyler is a vision as Arwen
I haven't seen a woman look so captivating on film in many many years.

This role really changed my image of Liv Tyler. I had always thought of her as a lightweight, a teen flash-in-the-pan (hated her in "Armageddon"), but she carries off her accent believably, as well as the character in general. I literally fell in love with the character.

Eowyn is very comely, but much more average looking, and I'm nut much into blondes, anyway.

18. Eowyn. Arwen in the films has an irritating breathy voice
Liv and Cate Blanchett--they sound like a pair of foghorns! or is that *acting*? :)

28. Director's choice...
...on the extended edition FotR, Liv Tyler says that she was told by Jackson to drop her voice an octave for the part. (Probably a good idea...her normal voice sounds a little "Valley Girl"-esque.)

29. The casting of Liv was the one thing I really didn't care for
She just seems a little ditzy to be playing someone hundreds of years old. :)

Cate Blanchett was well-cast though, and while I thought the drawn-out mysteriousness was silly, she acted well.

22. Arwen
Brunettes are better. The director insists on always flooding scenes with Eowyn with sunlight giving her, IMHO, an unfair advantage.

Also, Arwen has plenty of time to study basic electronics, and build me an Elvish TV which reads my mind and changes the channel moments before I get irrited by soft-focus-lens interviews and Billy Mays infomercials

27. Eowyn--Liv Tyler is the weak link in the entire trilogy
Minimally talented actress who somehow got billing over most of the other people--you know, the people who can act.
