Back in the day, we used to burn that stuff to get rid of the odor. What is the use or am I just getting old.

My friend turns to me and says, "somebody's burning incense."

I said, "what the hell are you talking about?"

She said, "That's what my Grandma's incense smells like. It always smells like that at my Grandma's house."

It is also supposed to affect mood, but it seems that its primary use is to cover up the smell of marijuana.

When I lived at a dorm in college, the surest way to tell that someone was puffin' a J was by the smell of incense. If they emerged from their room with a glassy-eyed stare, reeking of cologne or perfume, your suspicion was confirmed.
