3. The town next to me has a contest decorating plywood cutout bears.

One year, someone made a Republican bear, but it didn't win. Denville's a weird town though. I think they use subliminal messaging.

"Come to Denville. Spend your money. Park more than one hour so we can give you a parking ticket."

6. I insist they have subliminal messaging because of the speakers that...
randomly pump music through the town sometimes. Christmas music all through the holidays and sometimes Christmas music at other random points during the year. Intermittent classical music on occaision, and they spent a couple $100k putting up a big clocktower (um...perhaps better spent on the schools or something?) that plays patriotic music on the hour sometimes. None of the music ever has a set schedule though.

Plus, unless you have a parking permit, it's all 1-hour parking (really sucks for people working in town). I worked there for 4 years and I camped out 4 times for a parking permit, in the dead of winter, for a parking permit (only about 30 spots, so it's really competitive). If it wasn't fucking freezing out, that would have been okay, because we'd turn it into a weird party of sorts, but it was still absurd.

7. i hear you on the parking situation, that does suck for working folk...
we live downtown in what is referred to as archives plaza, state workers everywhere that have to move their cars every 2 hours...we have a permit to park here...but you can't find a spot 1/2 the time anyhow till they all clear out x(

i am in agreement as to the money being likely better spent elswhere than to intrude upon people's mindscape so as to say = not good

5. There is a horse outside a flower shop in Fayetteville
that serves as the local 'work of art'.

It gets repainted every week or two.
