Was Marilyn Monroe murdered?
I confess I've always been intrigued by this mystery; which is why I am watching 48 Hours on the subject right now. Anyone have opinions or evidence? Just wondering.

1. Based on things I've read over the last 40 or so years,
I definitely think she was murdered. No one thing in particular, just a lot of little things that don't add up. JFK was a fool to get involved with her in the first place.

5. Yea.
I mean, only a sane and non-foolish man would have passed up the chance to fuck Marilyn Monroe.

You make a really good point.

22. She was a troubled young woman who had a lot of problems. The fact
that she was turned into a sex symbol for movies had little to do with her and a lot to do with the people around her.

28. Have you ever been mentally ill?
Anyone who was as desperate for love as she was would be willing to do ANYTHING to get that love. There are many who would exploit such a condition and in the case of a lovely young woman like her, they did.

29. Loneliness isn't a mental illness.
Though you're inspiring me to build a case for the inclusion of "dreariness" in the DSM.

32. Since she was at the very least addicted to drugs, and most likely
had serious depression since she apparently had attempted to commit suicide before her death.

Her doctor claims that she was manic-depressive which would not be surprising considering her family history of mental illness.

15. I watched a documentary on this subject years ago,
where it was rumored that the CIA had injected drugs into her anus, left a bottle of barbiturates in her room to make it look like suicide, because they were afraid she was about to spill the beans about her romantic links with both Kennedy brothers.

Marylin's maid saw several guys in suits enter Marylin's bungalo.

6. I know she was
Some years ago The Weekly World News had a cover story about it. Apparently Marilyn had been bitten by a vampire. The government killed her to prevent her from becoming a vampire herself, then biting JFK.

I was reminded of that outrageous story (as well as the WWN's many crazy cover stories) as my roomie and I were watching the special on TV earlier.

10. Probably not...however...
As a Marilyn Death researcher, I've found it strange that MM was found in the nude (she NEVER slept in the nude) and without her bra on .
(she felt strongly that by sleeping in her bra,it deterred boob-sag).AND,above all else... that 20th Century Fox security removed all her personal contract papers.

Finally-she was getting ready to RE-marry Joltin' Joe.

30. If you've researched this, tell me why...
...nobody ever mentions that her shrink owned the ambulance service that showed up. Dr. Greenson's brother, who was a doctor himself, told a friend of his (who's a friend of mine) that he did.

"No, Elvis is not dead. He just went home." meaning that he was an alien and went back to his planet.

17. I don't think so
IIRC she had accidentally OD'd several times before, it's just that someone always caught her and got her to a hospital.

Sleeping pills were WAY more common in the early 60's than nowadays. IIRC Marilyn's life was a cycle of uppers to wake her up to go to work, and downers to help her sleep.

I think this was a case of one more overdose that wasn't caught in time. Not suicide, not murder, but an accident.

18. I say she's dead, nor is she a fetus. The living here and now seem more
crucial to think about than the pablum shoved over the airwaves.

Sorry to sound negative.

After watching it, what's your opinion, lildreamer?

I was SOOOO tired, and I failed to DVR it. I was intrigued to hear that she loved to talk politics. I still don't know enough to really form an opinion on the circumstances of her death, but my GOD, she was gorgeous!!

37. I think she probably got confused and took
too many pills, forgetting that she had already taken some. Or that she overdosed to get attention as she had done before. She had the phone in her hand. Probably to call someone to help her. The sanitizing of her room doesn't necessarily mean foul play. Studios always did this with their stars to remove anything which might make the studio look bad. That could have been the reason for that. As famous as she was she was one very sad and screwed up woman. Her childhood was horrible, she had a mentally ill mother, her father wanted nothing to do with her. I don't think fame and money can erase the insecurites that come from having a background like that.
