3. I'd like to a ride in the Confederate Air Force's planes.
I love those vintage planes. I'd love to own my own P-51! :D

4. You can't do that any more.
Not P.C.
The former "Confederate" Air Force is now The Commemorative Air Force.
All signs of the rebel flag erased.

<sigh>
Interesting...the name is still in the url.

5. Oh yes, that's correct. I noticed that on their website.
I find it more offensive that they're based in Midland, TX, which is a dump, and former home to the chimp in the white house.

Regardless, I like their work in preserving historical aircraft. I still wanna own my own though. What a blast!

6. My ex girlfriend had an Uncle
who flew the P-51's in Europe in WW2. Only met him once though.

If I can ever fiqure this machine out. I got lots of pics of flying in the Outer Banks in an original Waco 2E. bomber trainer for WW2. Open CockPit BiPlane.

8. Sweet!
I had a chance to fly in a B-17 once, but the damned line was too long.

11. Good friend was an ace.
WW II, Mediteraenean (sp?).
P-40s, P-47s, P-51s.
Passed away summer before last.
I am VERY proud to say I was responsible for getting an Alabama Air National Guard F-16 squadron to do a missing wingman fly-by during his memorial service in our neighborhood.
One of the most emotional moments of my life.

15. Started with the squadron in Montgomery.
"No can do. Only for career generals."
Went to State Adjutant Gen., boss of all AL National Guard.
Same answer.
Contacted senators.
They kicked it to Sec. A.F.
Heard nothing.
Then, the day before the memorial, I get a call from a colonel in Montgomery.
"What are the coordinates where you want the fly-by?"
I couldn't talk to him for several seconds.

Nearby church memorial at 2 p.m. Afterwards, about 100 of us gather with his widow at their home on Graham Bayou. Much food & drink and a celebration of Paul's life.
At a quarter to 4, I start herding people out onto the dock. Only Jill (his widow), Miz t., and I know about this.
At precisely 1600 hours (hack) 4 F-16s come screaming down the bayou at tree-top level, full afterburner. The dock shook.
Exactly in front of the dock, #3 pulls straight up and...disappears into the blue.
Sweet Jesus.
We all raise a glass.
"Cheers and Godspeed, Paul."

14. One of my favorite statues is The Missing Man Formation @
Randolph AFB. Too bad I can't get on base anymore without the parental units, though...

10. Well, as trof points out, the name was changed.
It's now the Commemorative Air Force. Unfortunately, given the age of the airplanes, we wouldn't stand a chance if we try to secede again. ;-)
