Three cheers for DU, admins and mods; so what if GD is down

This place is a labor of love by a lot of people who are probably not getting particularly wealthy off of it.

I work in software testing and release and I think we've had an excellent ride here, generally, for a web-based system.

I'll be looking for the little star of donors next to all of the ids of complaints about the system.

Suggestion: I'm not the only techie around here. Perhaps if you need volunteers (rather like mods) to proof-read code, test changes, etc., just ask!

1. I agree the benefit of DU far outweighs the minor glitches that

have occurred.

As one who had to pay to have my entire office system transferred to AS 400 language a few years back, I KNOW how difficult a switch in programs can be. We had to close down for a week during the holidays a few years back just to accomplish it.

DU made the changeover and has been MINIMALLY interrupted.

Anything done was done to improve the DU experience.

I know nothing about that real techie stuff, but I'm about to make the switch to Mac OS X, and that's scary enough for me!

3. The only thing that worries me

is that perhaps the site is being hacked by Republicans! I agree the admins, mods and database administrators do a fabulous job. This is a hugh forum and grows every day so it's going through "growing pains".

we can communicate, so if things go down for a bit, so what? I have nothing but appreciation for the Admins who have given me a place to regain my sanity. I hope it is just another glitch and not a hack.
