Freepers on the Internet Movie Database
They are just hilarious. And sad.

For instance, the Humphrey Bogart board, check it:

Does any one know Boogies political views. I hope he wasn't a liberal. He was a good actor.

http://imdb.com/name/nm0000007/board/thread/50140160

1. They're grasping at straws now...
Gasping their last, desperate breaths...

It really is kinda sad...looking to dead celebs to validate your opinions. Last time I checked, dead folks didn't validate shit.

2. Kind of silly. Might be natural for a politically oriented board, but
makes the person sound foolish on IMDB.

10. Two questions:
How the hell is THAT possible?

And

How the hell is it NOT possible?

16. Wow
I think they're just a watered down Refused with crappy titles/lyrics ala the aforementioned Capitalism Stole My Virginity. They can do better than that

And, lest you get the wrong impression, I do like Refused

21. The only things they have in common with Refused are Dennis and socialism.
Otherwise it's apples and oranges.

12. They put tons of comments on the imDb page for Brokeback Mountain
You can easily spot them because they are the ones that gave the film zero stars.

14. How do you give a movie zero stars? You have to give it credit for just
having the actors show up, no matter how bad it might be.

19. everything has to be black and white - Well, all I know, is even black and
white isn't always black and white. On my monitor, for example; where it is actually red, green & blue.

17. I think they were given their marching orders, to go over to imDb and
trash "Brokeback Mountain" as much as possible, with anything they could think of to say, and give it zero stars - by someone, or some right-wing organization. There are dozens and dozens of entries like that - and the one thing they have in common is that they don't seem to have actually seen the movie. They are lambasting it simply because of the gay theme.

18. I'm sure that's the case. Seems like it would be more effective giving it
one star though. Oh well.

23. And don't even try looking at the Vera Drake thread.
For those of you who might not be familiar with Vera Drake, it's one of Mike Leigh's movies, with much of the dialogue improvised by the actors, from what I recall.

WARNING: SPOILER.

Anyway, the title character is a woman who performs abortions, at no cost, for women in 1950s England. The film examines the issue from several angles. Among other things, it suggests that wealthy or middle-class women could receive medical abortions if they testified before a psychiatrist that they were desperate enough to take their own lives. I understand that was also true in some areas in the United States before Roe v. Wade.

Well, you can imagine the ranting and proselytizing that resulted from the appearance of a film like Vera Drake. The IMBD message board really drew an army of people who were in full preaching mode.

13. Anyway....
I hear Bogart wouldn't even talk to Wayne and Reagan because of their involvement in the witch hunts...

Een staunch conservatives such as Gary Cooper and Jimmy Stewart turned from socializing with those two after they turned on people in Hollywood...

I know that Stewart eventually endorsed Reagan when he ran for gov and pres...

But if you watch The Man Who Shot Liberty Vallance....

You can see the animosity between Wayne and Stewart... That was real....

22. I've noticed this too on several movie comments pages
and in the forums. Ever read the Motorcycle Diaries forums?

the funniest part is possibly how it's next to impossible to distinguish the rantings of bored 14 year olds from the rantings of 40 year old freepers in their mom's basement.

I often wonder how much of their own BS do they believe. Like how can anyone seriously argue some of their most common talking points with a straight face? is it all a game, or are they somehow incredibly, hughly and seriesly stupider* than possible?

* yes, that was done on purpose, for the satirically impaired lurkers among us.

24. The imdb forums can be very freepish
I've seen huge threads on whether V for Vendetta promotes the "homosexual agenda", purely because there's a gay character in it I assume.

The freepers who appear on the imdb boards are the type that believe that Bugs Bunny is gay and therefore evil. No discussion is even possible with these guys, you will never make them change their minds.
