"The Secret Life Of" on Food Network should be purged.
And the asshole who hosts it should be impaled on the Washington Monument.

For fuck's sake, all it is is either free advertising for corporations, or a corporate sponsored celebratory blowjob.

1. I have to say I've learned a thing or two, but mostly that show annoys me.
But yet, when I see it, I generally keep watching for some unknown reason. I think the host is borderline insulting to his guests at times.

3. As soon as Alton Brown is over at 7:30pm, I change the channel.
Unwrapped just plain sucks.

6. Argh! I can't stand half hour long commercials.
How can anyone stand to watch those shows?

15. unwrapped used to at least do shows on cult foods
or at least undermarketed products. I haven't watched it in a long time, so maybe it's different now, but I remember them doing things like Neco wafers and boston baked beans, as well as highlighting small local and regional candy stores and foodstuff makers, rather than just hershey, coke, mars, and other titans of the sugar industrial complex.

5. Yup, it's just a really long commercial.
You'd think they could easily fill the space with something better;
it has to be about the money is all I can figure.

9. I think it and Unwrapped are generally informative and entertaining
Are you aware that there are other channels available on your cable system?

10. Oh, Underpants, you just don't get it.
This is about me taking responsibility for my viewing habits.

This is about my right as an elitist, self-absorbed asshole to have the stations and programmers ensure that I don't have to see things I don't like. Turning the channel is for proles - I am too important for that, and so the industry should conform to me, and I will fight to have the government protect me from anything that is a waste of my time or that is offensive. I shouldn't be expected to go through all the strenuous and painful, mentally and physically, effort of changing the channel.

to change the station!!!

THEN I could understand this.

Okay first off one of the small joys of my suburban life is to watch to slow rocking motion Sandra Lee's boobs make as she makes yet another cocktail. I just love gin soaked trophy wives.

Have you ever noticed that the Barefoot contessa is always alone. I think she is actually a mental who squats in the Hamptons in the offseason and makes meals for her imaginary friends.

I am continually shocked that making a meal in 30 minutes is considered an accomplishment worth noting.

Alton Brown is slowly turning into a bat

Paula Deen is really Florida State head football coach Bobby Bowden in a wig. I have to say that for the incredible amount of editing they do of her show (digital TV rewind helps find remarkable things) they still can't get away from shots of her talking with food in her mouth.

13. Paula Deen!
Her southern charm evaporated for me the moment I saw her pet a large dog that came wandering through her kitchen, then go right back to cooking.

I'll probably skip "The Lady and Sons" next time I'm in Savannah.

12. Yup that and food finds are basically just commercials
What's funny is that guy does local cable company ads...well not even ads they're spots where he describes to customers how to access voice mail or set up email. His career is just soaring :)
