1. I've got one word for you.
But I'll restrain myself. Since you're cranky and all.

1 1/2 games back and in second all by their lonesome.

:woohoo:

4. Y'gotta admit
When they lost 13 of 14, one win was hardly a harbinger of 10 straight.

And now Kent's back. :woohoo:

Waidaminit — who says that?

5. *ahem*
IF you recall, that first win...someone hit a grand slam...can't remember now who did it, and...

One of these days you're gonna learn...

This time I dunno; my brain went to the copier with the scoreboard, must've 'cause it ain't in my head any more...the only thing I can think of is Vin Scully.

6. Drew
We beat the Gnats 13-1.

And I learned from Joe Garagiola all I need to know: Baseball is a funny game.

Vinny only thinks I'm stupid because he's heard me impersonate him.

9. I'll grant you that...
But that's part of its charm...its appeal...its part of the Game.

I couldn't eat Fahma Jahn anything after I went to the Sears downtown one day...right across from the Farmer John place...and the wind was blowing juuust right...

10. I've never had a Fahma Jahn Dadgah Dahg
Even though you can buy 'em in stores now. Don't see 'em around here much, though. Albertson's has Giants dogs, but I haven't looked to see who makes those.

Ball yards oughta sell Hebrew National dogs. :9

11. I had a Dadgah Dahg when I took the boys to Dodger Stadium
Bonehead had just turned a year old. Darrel was an ancient and wizened seven.

We had Dodger Dogs and cotton candy and Cracker Jacks and there were beach balls and the breeze blowin' in and that was during the Fernando Valenzuela era so the energy was incredible...

*sigh*

Damn.

I'm gonna get all tingly just thinking about it.

12. 1990?
That wasn't a bad year; they finished second behind Cincinnati.

That was the end of Fernandomania, though -- his last year with LA.

It was also Ramon Martinez's breakout year -- 20-6, 2.92.

Scosh was still catching, but the rest of the lineup was a buncha "Who are these fuckin' guys?" I mean, Eddie Murray as a Dodger? :wtf:

13. Yup...that would've been late June of 1990.
Bonehead wound up with mustard in his hair. What there was of it. His hair, I mean.

Y'know though...(don't strangle me)...who was in the lineup that year or where they placed doesn't really figure in. It was just taking the boys to a Dodgers game. The park and the Feeling. Me 'n' them and it was Great. About the only thing that might've made it better would've been a day game. It was a Friday night.

15. It's...summer.
The way it smells and the way it sounds and the way it feels...it's all wrapped up in a ballpark. In the game. The grass and the dirt and the colors. The players and the people and the guys going up and down trying to sell you whatever they can. It's the sticky fingers and the sunburned faces and the kids asleep on shoulders. It's the way the whole stadium shifts when the ball goes deep, whether it's a home run or a fly ball. It's the way they cheer with one voice and they groan with one voice. It's....damn, I could go on and on and on.

What it comes down to is...it's Summer.
