IV - Solo heroically chasing a pack of Storm Troopers down a hallway, finding them waiting for him with twice their previous number, then Solo running like a scalded dog back up that same hallway, firing aimlessly over his shoulder.
V - The entire ice world battle scene, with the Rebels fighting an obvious retreating action against a methodical, efficient Imperial force.
VI - Vader vs Luke duel, when Vader taunts Luke with the idea that even if Luke resists Vader, Vader will just find and corrupt Lukes sister instead. Luke draws power from the Dark side to defeat Vader, while at the same time we know he is sacrificing himself to that same power. The way the music swells as Luke starts driving Vader back gets me every time.
Ok, I'll make picks from I and II too.
I - The whole Fight scene with Darth Maul was about the only thing that I didn't mentally criticize while watching it.
II - I'm drawing a blank. I honestly can't think of anything that really impressed me. And I cringe at the sledge hammer subtlety of Anakin and Amidala's growing "romance." 4th graders could have written it better.
And I'll guess at this:
III - The tragic fall of Anakin, his betrayal of all his friends, about 1/2 a movie's worth of shadowing just about exactly what happened with Luke in Episode VI, so it becomes BLATANTLY obvious through the actions of the second 1/2 that Luke is ALREADY lost to the Dark Side. And finally, a dismally dark and UN-happy ending that will be absolutely HATED by average American movie goers, but which will be perversely hated AND loved by Star Wars fans.
I want an Episode III that will shock its viewers. That will make little kids cry. That will tell people that the universe is NOT saved from evil at the end of Episode VI. Infact, due to Lukes fall to the Dark side, that galaxy far, far away is in graver danger than ever before.
