What's your favorite bootleg/unreleased album?
The Beach Boys' Adult Child is a -must- listen for any fan. Tons of great catchy tunes with whacked out (and occasionally seriously offensive) lyrics. Great stuff.

1. It's morbid as all-get-out, but....
"Thee Last Supper", which is the last tape recordings of the Reverend Jim Jones.

It was (obviously) never released officially, but Psychic TV pressed vinyl copies and distributed them through TOPY.

It's just chilling. It's not "enjoyable", but it's incredibly powerful. The second side is recorded as the Peoples Temple congregation were dying of poisoning; what begins as a large crowd of people cheering Jones's speech dwindles to a few voices, and then nothing.

2. The Albini demos of Fugazi's "In On The Kill Taker" are pretty badass.
Asthmaticeog hooked me up a few weeks ago. Good stuff.

4. I have a really newbieish question about bootlegs
aren't these albums that were recorded at a concert or something?

I have an Elton John album that is clearly something like this. Don't have a turntable anymore to even listen to it, but it's clearly homemade.

What do I do with it? Are they valuable?

6. Nope
I have two bootlegs that are not concert albums (The Cramps "Same As The Cavemen" and The Dandy Warhols "Black" album - both versions; the real bootleg and the self-released version). The former is basically a fan recording, but professionally mixed and pressed (it's vinyl) and the former is a rough mix of an album that was never released (parts of it were on "...Come Down" and various B sides but only after substantial remixing/editing).

Spme are valuable; some are not. Depends upon the band, quality of the recording, etc. (In my case, the first one is valuable, the second isn't.)

7. Recording I Made of The Throwing Muses in the 80s with Unreleased Songs
Excellent sound quality (I remixed it on a four-track), original (okay, second) band line up, and songs that were never released. Only downside is that it's on a cassette.

8. The Albini version of Cheap Trick's "In Color" is amazing.
Ditto Primate1 on his Fugazi demos, too.
