27. Gephardt takes money from unions but does little
to defend them. On July 10 when the house had the first vote on overtime changes Gephardt, that "friend" of the worke, along with six other Democrats could not manage to find the time to be present and vote.

Oh yeah...*that's* doing good for unions. The real activist oriented unions know what the real Gephardt is like. As a matter of fact there was a bit of a scandal here in St Louis around SEIU and AFSCME candidate endorsements. Seems one of Gephardt's big cheeses, Abbousie, was accused of telling AFSCME that if they endorsed Dean then she would do everything she could to get the Republicans in the MO legislature to pass a law taking back the right of state workers to have collective bargaining.

I don't think any candidate or their spokesperson should threaten workers' rights. That is beyond the pale.

Unions: Gephardt aide threatened their collective bargaining rights

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Prominent labor leaders on Wednesday accused an aide to Democratic presidential candidate Dick Gephardt of threatening retaliation against Missouri state employees if two prominent unions assist rival Howard Dean in the 2004 Missouri primary.

In a letter to Gephardt, D-Mo., Andrew Stern and Gerald McEntee accused Joyce Aboussie of promising to seek the reversal of an executive order that granted those employees collective bargaining rights.

And a morality policeman.
He bitched at Clinton for Monica-gate, calling him to resign.
I don't mind Joe because he constantly votes pro-choice and pro-enviroment; however, he is far too hawkish to my liking.

7. Joe's a decent, civilized human being
which puts him light years ahead of Bush. Can you imagine Joe pulling a stunt like wiping his glasses on Dave Letterman's assistant's jacket, on national TV? No, I can't either.

28. Bush behaves like that because he was brought up to
view everyone not of his class as being kept around just to serve his needs.

That's why we have a working class all volunteer army. After all why should the sons and daughters of the well heeled go fight their wars. That's the function of the working class, don't you know?

If Lieberman has any kids, I wonder if they are Republicans, considering how far to the right he is. Also, if they were brought up orthodox or even "modern" orthodox then they have a good chance of being pugs.

24. Joe was fixed up by a yenta
OK, he didn't use that word, but on his CSPAN interview he told the story of being fixed up with Hadassah by a woman in his synagogue. I told my husband, "Hey, Joe Lieberman was fixed up by a yenta." He replied, "With a face like his? You bet!"

13. Not!
Here is one of many reasons why:

Lynne Cheney-Joe Lieberman Group Puts Out a Blacklist

AN aggressive attack on freedom has been launched upon America's college campuses. Its perpetrators seek the elimination of ideas and activities that place Sept. 11 in historical context, or critique the so-called war on terrorism.

The offensive, spearheaded by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni, a Washington-based group, threatens free speech, democratic debate and the integrity of higher education. In an incendiary report, ``Defending Civilization: How Our Universities Are Failing America,'' the American Council claims that ``colleges and university faculty have been the weak link in America's response'' to Sept. 11. It also asserts that ``when a nation's intellectuals are unwilling to defend its civilization, they give comfort to its adversaries.''

The report documents 117 campus incidents as ``evidence'' of anti-Americanism. More than 40 professors are named, including the president of Wesleyan University, who suggested in an open letter that ``disparities and injustices'' in American society and the world can lead to hatred and violence.

I think this is not one of them. :-)

From the Ithaca Journal, Feb 5 2002:
http://www.theithacajournal.com/news/stories/20020205/opinion/1589693.html

(excerpt, emphasis added)

From Lieberman to Jerry Martin, President, American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA), Dec. 18: I am writing in regard to the Council's recent "Defending civilization" report.

In the past, the Council has sent me advanced copies of its publications before they have been released and asked for my support. In this case, though, I was never given the opportunity to review the report before it was made public. I first learned of it through a call to my office from a reporter in Connecticut about a controversy the report had stirred at Wesleyan University.

If I had been given an advanced copy, I would have objected to its content and methodology and asked you either to revise it or make clear that I had no involvement with it. But because that did not happen, and because I have been incorrectly listed on your Web site as a co-founder of the Council, a number of news accounts and commentaries have associated me with the report and incorrectly asserted or implied that I endorse it.

This letter is meant to set the record straight about my disapproval of this report, which I consider unfair and inconsistent for an organization devoted to promoting academic freedom. To avoid any future confusion, I would ask you to remove any reference to me as a "co-founder" of ACTA from your Web site or other Council documents. And I would ask that you note in any future public statements that I do not support this specific report.

(EDIT: slight change in subject line)

he was the Vice Presidential candidate in 2004. He seems pissed at all democrats for rejecting him. He seems to have bought "that we can't beat the republicans unless we are like them". Joe we hardly knew ya.

Satan is cool. Joe needs to get right with the devil!

Not only is he a bloodthirsty warmongering cocksucking phony moralistic wannabe Republican scold, he loves censorship too.

He and Zell Miller should just get a room already.

Notice the two photos; the photo on the left seems more recent; Joe seems older in that one. Doesn't he look just like a used car salesman? And his lips have gotten really puffy. Maybe it's the lighting, but they definitely look puffed up.

25. He does have a sense of humor
The Daily Show had a bit at one of the debates. A "correspondent" was trying to ask the candidates questions. Lieberman got the joke right away and had a laugh. Kucinich was perturbed and irritated.

To me - that says a lot.
