Never been a Camaro fan before, but
this resurrected version is something I wouldn't be embarrassed to drive around in, to say the least.

In this file photo, General Motors unveils the Camaro concept vehicle at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Monday, Jan. 9, 2006. General Motors Corp. plans to bring back the Chevrolet Camaro as a production vehicle. According to a report published by the Detroit Free Press Sunday, Aug. 6., GM Chairman and Chief Executive Rick Wagoner is expected to announce the return of the muscle car in a speech Thursday at an automotive conference in Traverse City, Mich. The production version could be built as early as 2008, the newspaper reported, citing people familiar with the plans that it didn't name. (AP Photo/Carlos Osorio)

3. That is an interesting looking vehicle.
But so many fantasies and emotions come into play when one drools over a new car like that when, the fact is, purchasing an automobile like that is tantamount to throwing a minimum of $18,000 down the drain.

In my opinion, one must think in terms of reasonable and practical transportation and basic economics, unless one has $1.5 million in the bank and can pay cash for such a toy without jeopardizing his or her future or family.

JMHO. :)

4. I love it!
I might wind up with one like this as an "extra" fun car someday. I don't think I will ever have enough $$ to have that red corvette I was dreaming about for summer fun. I wonder if Pontiac is planning a Firebird as well. I used to have a 77 Firebird and then an 85 Trans Am (Best Car Ever!) except for those fun Chicago winters. That TA would get stuck on gum it seemed.

6. Holy Shit! I just assumed it was gonna be another white trash
Edited on Fri Aug-11-06 12:02 AM by Rabrrrrrr
tacky t-shirt-with-cigarettes-rolled-into-the-sleeve asshole car for idiots with a fourth-grade education and a penchant for incest or women who wanted to collect a child from every male-thing they encountered from age 13, like the other Camaros!

But this car is fucking SWEET! This is no WhiteTrashMobile!

7. I hate to be a wet-blamket, but I don't care for it at all.
It looks like it's been squashed.

If we're talking retromuscle, I'll have one of these, please:

Of course, I'd have to have the limited-run 'Cuda with the blown Hemi and the carbon-fibre body.

Looks like the Green Hornet's back-up car. :puke:

WTF is goin' on with Detroit, makin' cars that look like fuckin' tanks? Harley Earl's ghost must be throwing up in his mouth a little.

THIS is a Camaro.

15. SUVs are poisoning car design
It seems that even if they're making a sedan, it still has to have a HUGE agressive-looking grille on the front and really stubby looks.

:(

Dodge did it first, and better I think...

IMO of course...the steel blue ones are great to look at, and the new GREEN is even better live:

16. The retro trend is a desperate novelty act from the dying US auto industry
..imho. The new Camaro, Charger, etc are certainly sharp looking vehicles, but these new models seem to be a market niche unto themselves, appealing to nostalgia. It seems like the US auto industry (or what's left of it), unable to compete with superior models from foreign-based auto companies, has to retreat to its glory days to get folks onto the lots.

(Maybe I should change my DU name to 'Wet Blanket')

17. Maybe you're right, but
To me it's a welcome change after 30+ years of design that looked at little more than an aerodynamic ideal. I swear I can't distinguish most cars made since about 1980.

19. sports cars should not have 4 doors
Dodge made the Charger a 4 door sedan, that is so wrong. Sedans are family cars not sports cars, at least they did the Challenger with just 2 doors. Chrysler should stop putting the hemi in everything it builds. I'm just waiting for the day they put the hemi in a Neon.
