11. they're SO yummy, that they're dangerous!
I think its pronounced Kai-per-ain-ya. Lots of lime juice, sugar, and cachaça. Recipe here:

1 lime

2 ounces of cachaça

Sugar to taste

Ice cubes

Wash the lime and roll it on the board to loosen the juices. Cut the lime into pieces and place them in a glass. Sprinkle with the sugar and crush the pieces (pulp side up) with a pestle. (We have a long, wooden one from Brazil, made specifically for this purpose.) Just enough to release the juice, otherwise it'll get bitter. Add the cachaça and stir to mix. Add the ice and stir again. It is delicious and potent!

You can also make a pitcher of caipirinha. Figure out how many people and multiply amounts. If you can't find cachaça where you live, use a good vodka. The drink will then be called caipiroshka. No vodka? Use white rum and you will have a caipiríssima.

(recipe from http://www.maria-brazil.org/caipirinha.htm )

They are absolutely delicious!

17. My bartender
used to refuse to put my olives into the martini. The oily sheen would destroy the transparent perfection of the creation.

He would set the olives on a napkin next to the drink, I would need to toss them in myself. If I ordered a dirty martini, I would be sneered at, and get it clean.

22. Hendrick's and tonic with cucumber, please.
Not that I need another drink.... I'm still buzzing from the ones I've already had.

We went to the burlesque vaudeville show tonight. (There's a weekly one in Denver.) It was my turn to drink. Ooooo.....

I'm waiting to sober up so I can take my night meds without sleeping through tomorrow's alarm clock.
