3. They have to put me under for it, given how badly mine are impacted.
If it was just local anesthetic, I wouldn't be asking for luck. ;)

4. Hey, good luck!! Coincidentally, I'm getting mine pulled next week!
I'm also planning to post a thread, asking for support and good wishes b/c I'm a bit nervous about it. It seems there are very few POSITIVE stories about wisdom teeth being pulled out there, but I hope you and I get to change that. :7

I'm having my upper wisdom teeth pulled and they're already "erupted", which is in my favor and makes them easier to remove. I wasn't born with lower ones, so that's also in my favor. Plus, I've opted for the drug IV to put me into a "twilight sleep" so I have the least amount of discomfort as possible.

My teeth don't bother me one bit, so this is purely elective. My dentist has been recommending this for years due to the fact they're not really needed, hard to brush effectively and starting to decay and affect the molars next to them. I decided to finally stop procrastinating and just get it handled.

Why are you having yours pulled? Problems? Pain? In any case, good luck and all the best to you, seawolf. Let's check in with each other later, OK? My surgery is next Thursday morning, at 9am. When I went in for my consult with the oral surgeon, he gave me a prescription for the vicodin meds I'll be taking afterwards. I've got it filled and ready to go! :D Hey, "better living through Chemistry", that's what I say!!

:hi:

7. I had the soft-tissue impaction
probably maybe not as bad as yours, but it all went smooth and painless (I was knocked out) no pain during recovery aside from the odd throb.

And now I have more room for my tongue!

14. Weird coincidences...
I got my lowers pulled today (born with no uppers), and I was on IV too. When they say get someone to drive you home and sit with you after the IV, they mean it. My dad had to help me limp to the car/limp into the living when we got home, and I was essentially functionally passed out (stagger to the car, sleep, stagger home, sleep, wake up to get ice pack moved around, go back to sleep) from the end of the surgery (about 12:45) to 5:00 or so this afternoon.

I was getting mine pulled because they were starting to hurt and they were just going to keep on getting more and more ingrown. Right one was growing at a 45 degree angle, left one was starting to grow under my back molar. I'm glad they're out.

Thanks for wishing me luck, and feel to check in with me if you have any questions.

PS: Supplement that vicodin with Advil or Tylenol, etc... if you even start feeling like you need it. I had to do that about an hour ago or I'd have been hurting too much to post.

9. No swelling, and no sweat, but I'm not so lucky on the no pain thing.

The vicodin's and my anti-inflammatory are helping a whole lot, but I'm still getting the occasional twinge-left side of my mouth was starting to hurt like hell until I popped an Advil on top of my meds. Now it's just numb again.

Thanks for thinking of me.

You doing all right?

10. Thanks. I'm back.
:hi: Not in great shape-I'm kinda loopy from my meds, and the left side of my mouth is still numb (10.5 hours later...), but I'm competent to post again.

13. I remember when I had mine pulled.
I had all four pulled at one time. I cried on the way out of the dentist's office. I got over it pretty quickly though. It wasn't so bad after I realized I needed to drink broth and soup for a few days and not try to chew so soon. :wow:

19. I had mine out 2 years ago.
The Dr. used a IV, over in about a hour, no pain afterward or swelling.

The Dr. I used was great, I have taken friends to him for oral surgery.

Just relax.

20. Good luck!
When I had mine surgically removed (they hadn't erupted yet), I was semi-lucid, but felt nothing. I recall a Jeffersons rerun was on the t.v. I could not follow the plot. And they gave me lovely percosets afterwards. Alas, they said I could neither french kiss nor slurp spaghetti--I was nineteen! I lived to french kiss and slurp spaghetti--what did they know? So I enjoyed simple foods--dunking grilled cheese in tomato soup and devouring rice pudding like a fiend (if you can invision a rice pudding devouring fiend). I behaved for about three or four days, and then did the unspeakable--I yanked at my stitches. My dentist was horrified. I was so lucky I was a fast healer. He looked at my stitchless mouth, smooth, unchallenging with its seven yrs of orthodontia and plastic molar bonding (to keep caries out of my deeply ridged molars, you see. It's prophylaxis). With disgust he wished me well in my evil self-dentisting stitch pulling ways.

I survived, and wish you well. :hi:
