Things I just learned in GD:
Edited on Fri Aug-11-06 07:54 AM by haruka3_2000
1. Everyone at DU is a "leftwingtron."

2. We are all on the left fringe and I'm in denial about it.

3. 80% of DUers hold views that are radical compared to a standard progressive agenda.

4. The majority of Americans think a standard progressive agenda is extreme.

So therefore, I conclude that the political spectrum must look like this...

-**--------------------------------------**--------------------------------------------**-------------**--
DU............................................Progressives.........................................Moderates............Freepers
(leftwingtrons) .............................................................................................................(Rightwingtrons)

1. Leftwingtron? Is that like one of the transformers? Autobot or decepticon?
Perhaps we transform from person to airplane wing?

2. I don't know. Apparently, it's like matter & anti-matter.

Personally, I was never much into physics or transformers. I was more into English and G.I. Joes.

In another thread, I was informed that I hated freedom because I believed we needed airport security. Apparently, even the existence of baggage checkers infringes on my civil liberties.

3. Why do you hate America you leftwingtron?
And please admit your trollyness because everybody knows G.I. Joes are hawkish symbols of the global military-industrial complex.
:P

4. Yeah -- according to a few DUers, those who don't like Joementum
are loony leftists and we're members of the leftwing blogosphere *GASP*

6. He claims to be one of us whacky extremists.
Apparently, I'm just in denial because I *GASP* said DU has people from across the spectrum of the democratic party, including some moderates.

8. I know the homosexual agenda, but not the progressive agenda.
However, whatever this standard progressive agenda is I doubt 80% of DUers hold beliefs that are radical compared to it or that the majority of Americans believe that the progressive agenda is extreme.

9. It's amazing how people seem to believe that
a possition way far to the right is somehow the moderate or centrist possition.
:grr:

I've always valued political extremists on the left because it's the extremes that define where the middle is. If you don't have people willing to defend your extreme flank then you're going to get pushed to give up ground.

We need a stronger, louder extreme and we need to give them some respect because they are the ones that are going to allow us to define the center is true progressive terms.
