Advice needed: self tanner?
Has anyone found a self tanner that doesn't turn you orange? I try to stay out of the sun because I know how much damage it can do to your skin, but I must admit to a twinge of envy when I see all the beautiful summer tans around me. I figure they MUST have come up with something that works by now. Price is no object. Also, one you can use on your face?

1. I've had good luck with the lotions that gradually turn you darker.
Nivea and Dove each make one, as do others.

I tend to turn orange with self-tanners, too--these were much more subtle and natural for me.

Just use it like a regular lotion (I apply it AM and PM) and after a few days you will notice that you've gotten darker and they are very subtle; they are good for repairing a "farmer tan" (I got a very ugly farmer tna in Germany), too.

3. Thanks!
I like the idea that it's gradual. Does it transfer to clothes when you use it?

2. Yes and Yes.
One that I use and love is Lancome Flash Bronzer Self-Tanner for Legs. It's about $28 a tube, and you can get 6 or 7 applications out of it. I'm really fair-skinned, and this is the only self-tanner I've used that does NOT turn me orange. It's an actual tan for me! Although it says "for legs", I use it all over, including my face. It's got a bronzer in it so you can see where you are putting it. I use mine at night and let it dry 30-45 minutes before going to sleep. In the morning, I shower to get the excess off, and a very nice tan is left. I also use this on my face. The results are great and last for about a week before you need to reapply.

Just found out recently that Lancome is now making a transfer-resistant version of this same self-tanner, so next time I buy it, that's what I'll use. The original version does have a tendency to temporarily stain clothing (but it always washes out).

Hope that helps!

4. Transfer-resistent sounds good
Does it turn your palms colors?

5. Only if you don't wash it off thoroughly.
If you have any left on your hands, a small amount of nail polish remover on a cotton ball or cotton pad will remove it. :)
