5. Ha
So I am guessing that the music from Woodstock isn't part of the "music music music" you have in your profile?

6. Not at all

I love the Woodstock generation and the awesome music that came with it.

I just ragged on VH1 because they have NOT been showing music lately...just a bunch of realty bullshit, and other superflous garbage.

Woodstock???? I'd have loved to have been there to see CSNY, Richie Havens, Airplane, a spaced out Arlo Gurthrie, the Band, and of course the master one Jimi Hendrix...poor guy had his set on the Monday at the end of Woodstock when most people had left.

9. Aha...

There is a VH-1 classic that is right...they show a lot of older videos, concerts, etc...I actually do happen by there on occasion and enjoy it.

I stand corrected.

I guess my urge to bitch about VH1 or MTV is always pressing.

Perfectly understandable
:)

I must confess a bizarre fixation with "Celebrity Fit Club", however. Yeah, I dunno either.

12. I liked the show

Bands on the Run or something....It was a bunch of indie bands competiting to get a record deal and a video. It was the one reality show that actually had me interested.

8. Oh shit...sorry
I read it as "are" instead of "aren't". Ooops. Sorry about that.

11. Gotcha...

The Lifestyles of the Irresponsible and Bloated would certainly not apply to the counter-culture of the 1960s. They didn't get it all done right, but they were heading in the right direction.

10. BRING ON SHA NA NA!!!!!
That's what the crowds at Woodstock were screaming. There might have been classic performances by the Who and Hendrix, but what the people came for was the Sha Na Na.

13. They were just on
You know, they didn't even have a record deal when they went on. They got one right after and they have put out over 20 albums since.

14. Didn't Richie Havens open the show

And had to play like 2 hours or something because none of the other acts could get there due to the traffic?

Oh yea...Santana needs mention from Woodstock...they absolutely slayed.

16. I don't know how long Havens played
But I do know that John Sebastian just showed up to watch and he ended being the one who would play between acts.

15. I just wish there was footage of some of the acts that were there but
Edited on Fri Aug-11-06 01:13 PM by ET Awful
nobody knows they were there because they were left out of the movie (other than quick walk-ons and comments), like the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Mountain, Creedence Clearwater, Jefferson Airplane and The Band.

Granted, the Dead themselves say it was one of their worst performances ever (not to mention their story of the stage actually sailing across a sea of mud because the cloth backdrops got caught in the wind), but I'd still love to see at least SOME footage.

Interesting link for the actual setlists from all the performers:

17. I have seen some of it
A while ago, maybe the late 80s, they had a show on TV called something like "Woodstock the lost footage". I know I saw the Band, but I don't remember what else was on it. I have it recorded somewhere I think.

I've heard some tape of the Dead, but not seen any footage.

19. Woodstock stands alone. But PBS was running Bangladesh. And I
saw Wattstax not too long ago. Live concert footage makes my day.
