Can people tell your profession from your clothes?
For example:
Engineers wear wash and wear chinos (preferred colors: Khaki, black, navy blue) with button down shirts (no ties) with a collection of at least three pens in the chest pocket (in case the first two don't work.)

Stains from dirt, oil, chemicals optional

Steel toed shoes

For casual occasions, the button down shirt is replaced with a knit polo shirt featuring a vendor name.

This is a uni-sex uniform.

1. Nope
20 years ago, people were very conscious of wearing "professional" clothes. Now, I'm the best dressed of the bunch, and I just wear comfortable clothes. I don't feel comfortable wearing shorts, but others now do. It's a big sea change from 20 years ago.

4. A lot of people copied the engineers and wear the chinos now.
I think the engineers still have a monopoly on the pens in the shirt pocket, though.

7. How about all you medical types out there.
Admit it, you wear scrubs home and stop by the grocery store on the way.

8. Not me, I change before leaving work.
I hate scrubs. They are NOT designed to be comfortable for people of my build.

10. These days, for sure. Actually, before, too, if they saw me in wetsuits
Seems like I have had a tendency toward making a living dressing in skintight raiment... :D
