I tried ear plugs... got a great night's sleep!
The wife's snoring and the kids banging around equaled plenty of sleep interuptions for me. Tried ear plugs and WOW what a difference! I slept like a log the last 2 nights.

1. Yes but be careful doing that
It can hold moisture in the ear canal that can lead to a growth in bacteria. Alas, I do it to sometimes.

5. Yes and that leads to other problems

I used to wear plugs in the car with screaming kids, working with power equipment, shooting and yes, sleeping.

If you have a cold or ear infection the Eustachian tube may be blocked and when you insert or withdraw the plug the pressure between the plug and ear drum can be damaging.

I can not wear plugs any more and wear ear muffs.

I snore so badly Kathy has to go to the guest room most nights. I've urged her to try ear plugs but she can't -- they bug her. I'm not exactly sure how or why. (Bad girl, I'm afraid I wasn't paying attention.) :(

What kind of plugs are you using? Thanks.

7. There are some soft, squishy ear plugs
that they sell at Eckerds and probably Walgreens. They are sort of a rounded cone shape (not the barrel shaped gray ones - they're itchy). There are sometimes orange or beige in color, depending on brand. Hearos is one brand and they are beige. You roll them between your fingers and then insert in your ear. I've been using them for years. I have a husband and a dog to keep me informed of possible breakins, etc. They are so comfortable you don't know they're there.

8. You called it FlaGranny
The soft semi cone shaped ones are the ticket. The same style is osha approved and I was introduced to them & the job site.

11. Alas, if you have ringing in your ears, they only make it
more apparent. I've had ringing in the ears before, but thankfully it didn't last long.
