...sounds like a ton of semis going through the Holland tunnel.

Just had to share that with you. I feel like sticking some dynamite in it.

1. We just replaced a dishwasher that worked great except
for the electronic controls that kept dying every year. This last time, there was a hole burned through the circuit board at one of the connectors. We're not sure if water got in there or if the lightning strike a week ago started something. Anyways, we replaced it with the same model and a $20 a year warranty. (Am I allowed to say that this is a Kenmore?)

By the way - the sales clerk showed us the $1000 German machines (Bosc?) they had all hooked up and running to impress us with how quiet they are. The Kenmore model I have in my home is quieter!

2. LOL! You should hear my dryer!
About 5 years old; squeals like a pig is being strangled in it. I can sympathize with you! :hi:

4. Tell me about it.
I have a Maytag washer and dryer that are at least 30 years old, and work fine.

My oldest sister has a Maytag washer and dryer that are a couple years old, and I bet my washer and dryer will still be working years after my sister's have died.

8. I also have a Bosch
Stainless steel tub and everything. I looooooooooooove my Bosch dishwasher. Unlike the neighbor's lawn tractor, I can watch TV while it's running without having to turn up the volume. Nice.

6. I got talked into a GE with all the Consumer Reports
ratings and all. What a total disappointment. It leaked off & on for 3 years. I could never turn it on if I was going out or at bed time for fear of flooding. I went away for a week where my spouse had to run the household. It leaked repeatedly. After 3 years of my bitching, all it took was one week for him to have to clean up the floods. We got a new dishwasher the next week, a kitchen aide. End of floods!

9. That's when I got rid of my GE Pot-tickler POS.
Edited on Mon Aug-14-06 12:58 PM by trogdor
The damn thing left food particles all over my glasses unless I rinsed everything off REALLY WELL first. It was noisy as hell. The timer broke so I had to babysit the damn thing or else it would run continuously forever. The last straw came with the leak, which made a big mess all over the kitchen floor. That's when we spent the money and got a Bosch.

My wife still doesn't believe me, but I can leave burned-on mac and cheese all over the casserole pans and just throw them in, and they come out clean.

10. I guess unless you spend $2000 for any big appliance....

...you should just count on getting a POS.

7. Heh Heh
That reminds me of an old Home Improvement episode where Tim decides to "rev up" the dishwasher and causes a huge explosion in the kitchen instead.

Seriously though, five years ago when I moved into my current house, I installed a Miele dishwasher. German made and completely silent. No pre-soaking and extremely energy efficient. Not cheap at all (CAD 2,500.00) but worth every penny.

12. I got an LG not that long ago
Stainless steel, absolutely quiet as a mouse. And, it cleans really well.

Downside is it cost almost a grand.

13. My dear Midlo.........
My thinking is that you're going to pay one way or the other........

For myself, I'd rather shell out the bucks and get something very good....

Than the other way around!

And, I hate not having stuff work. It makes me downright cranky.

16. That's the brand.
I think it is made in Korea?

Pricey electronics, but darned good ones.

I can't even tell if the thing is on half the time.

17. We've got the GE Triton.
MrG wrapped it double before installing it. With the old washer's wrap and the new washer's wrap...and it's pretty quiet. :hi: But, I don't like the bins at all.
